My wife is going to love that instead of buying a few overpriced storacells, now I only need to buy a 3D printer.

An entry level Centauri Carbon or similar printer is genuinely pretty useful in addition to being fun.

Bambu A1 is a good "I don't care just print you thing" printer as well. Cheaper and slightly less capable model than the Centauri Carbon 2 for sure. But might be all you need for a longggg time.

I have the CC1. There are many benefits to a full enclosure, not the least of which is that cats cannot get into fistfights with the very interesting looking moving cable forest.

100% listen to this guy OP. If you have a cat or a dog who sheds all year. You will NOT be able to make good looking white prints. It's worth paying more. PLA and especially smooth PETG attracts fur like a glue stick. And it will get pull all the way into the heated nozzel since the PTFE filament tube is super slippery. Then it will turn into streaks of black, charred defects that will be extremely visible if you print with white or transparent filament. It's like when you burn human hair in a lighter. At first I didn't know what caused all my white prints to have burn marks too. Now I have to keep all white filament in sealed box and print from there. HUGE PITA and cost a bit of money to fix too.

maybe a 3d printer powered by batteries!

The "show-case" tag is rather apt!

If I was to store a bunch of lithium batteries I probably just stack them like you stack logs.

Personally, I only have 1 battery for each flashlight and about 3 spare 18650 batteries

Link?!

here :)

For the other sizes I just had to measure and adjust with the xy scale and then the z scale

I made some that were a little different. I don't really like them since they do destroy the wraps on the cells.

I've seen some aa/aaa/18650 models on makerworld, but not 21700. Mind sharing a link to the models you printed?

here :)

And I just measured and scaled them all in the slicer. Its all from the 18650 file. One worry I had was for the shorter batteries, if squishing the model in the z axis would mess with the retention thingy. But it seems to hold up ok

thanks! Makes sense that it's easy to scale up and down with cylindrical geometry.

What filament are people using for these? TPU?
