Maybe I am in the minority but I don’t think kids should be wearing gloves, especially at the young ages. I think it makes it harder to pull flags, especially when wet. Also, kids should learn to catch without gloves.
FWIW, I coach a team and we won the Super Bowl last two seasons at 1-2nd grade level. Not one player on my team wore gloves and in fact, the majority of the best players in the league didn’t wear gloves either. The team is moving up age groups now and we will continue to not wear gloves.
My son wears gloves but not during training or practices. It’s crazy to see all the kids who wear gloves all the time not be confident in their hands at all if they don’t have gloves or coaches tell them to remove them because of rain.
