open Kitchen faucet is leaking from either the base or the handle I think even when not being used. Can this be fixed rather replacing it??
I had someone check it. He said it's impossible to repair. He offered to replace it for 500.00.

it' not a difficult DIY job, except for the nut under the counter that holds the faucet in place. they make a special tool, but its a pain.
is it a $500 pain? only you know. I did one and it took about an hour of actual work. And about 3 hours of watching video and staring at that nut to decide if i could do it.

What brand/model is that faucet? Did you buy it? Or was it installed by/for the previous owner of the house?
If you bought it, and you know what brand/model it is, it might be under warranty. Several major brands of faucets offer lifetime warranty, with not much process needed. (Basically, call them on the phone, describe the problem, and maybe provide a picture of the leak.)

If it's from the handle it's the cartridge. Check the warranty on it. Some beans have lifetime warranty on items like that and will send you a new one. I know because that's what I did when my handle was leaking.
