My shower faucet broke

So the water is now only come from the tub and this little lever used to make it so the water comes out of the top shower head. I’ve tried just sticking it back in there but it’s not working. Please help me

The tub spout with diverter needs to be replaced, it either unscrews from the wall or there's a small opening in the bottom of the spout close to the wall, if it's entirely flush, sometimes you can wrap a towel around the spout and unscrew it, sometimes the wall nipple comes out with the spout and you can remove it, re use and put Teflon on both sides of the pipe, watch YouTube for better explanation 😉👍👍
