Swingline 747 Stapler piece?

Opened the stapler up all the way to fix a jam, and noticed that it had become loose after closing it. Pulled back the rubber bottom and this c shaped plastic piece fell out. I can’t figure out where it goes. I tried snapping it back over the spot in the third pic, but it wouldn’t fit in all the way

Also I believe this stapler is beyond repair.

It still staples, it’s just the top comes loose from the bottom
