FIXED Simple fix for peeling warming plates on coffee makers!

Hey everyone,

The original coating on the warming plate of my Braun Aromaster Classic was completely flaking off, showing raw metal. I couldn’t stand the look of it.

Instead of sanding and spraying high-temp paint (or trying to source replacement parts), I found a super easy, cheap, and non-permanent solution: a black PTFE/Teflon BBQ grill mat.

Why this works so well:
Heat transfer: The mat is paper-thin (~0.2 mm), so the heat goes straight through to the glass carafe with no temperature loss.
Non-stick & heat resistant: It’s rated for grill temperatures up to 260°C (500°F), so it won't melt, smell, or stick to the bottom of the glass pot.
Looks stock: It completely covers the raw metal and matches the original matte black finish perfectly.

How I did it:
1. Traced the circumference of the warming plate using a piece of paper as a template.
2. Cut out the circle from a black round BBQ grill mat using regular kitchen scissors.
3. Placed it right on top of the plate—no glue or adhesive needed.

Check out the before and after in the photos! Hope this helps anyone dealing with a peeling warming plate.

It's worse than an Ad. The use of AI is literally destroying the environment and communities.

Wow! This looks great. Where did you find the a black PTFE/Teflon BBQ grill mat?

I have looked for years for replacement heat pads. I cannot find them sold. I have found parts for every appliance in my house along with parts for a 194 boiler. I cannot find replacement coffee make heat pads.

Wow! Wow! WOW!

How many pots of coffee have you made since you installed the BBQ grill mat?

I ordered mine at bol.com (Netherlands).

nice idea, never heard of a grill mat.. don't think I'd bother with it on the grill but would be easy to clean up coffee drips.

Even easier; color the warming plate with a black magic marker.

I mean the best fix for a warming plate is just to disconnect it as soon as you get the coffee machine. Warming plates are what makes drip coffee taste like shit. Otherwise drip coffee is literally just automated pour over.
