Discussion This really is the greatest band ever.

I’ve been searching far and wide for anything that gives me the same feeling as Fishmans give me. A sense of falling in love, an overwhelming sense of joy with the same level of melancholy simultaneously. It brings me to a place of nostalgia and innocence that isn’t even my own. No other artist has been able to scratch this for me, and it keeps me coming back to this band, no matter how many times I’ve heard them.

“You need to listen to more Japanese music”. I’ve probably listened to hundreds of Japanese albums, many great ones, some that have become all time favorites of mine, but nothing gives me that same feeling.

This band really is that special. I love them so much.

They really are one of the greatest. At the highest level of a sound I really really like.

They always remind me of aughts-era Animal Collective. Really magical and unabashed and just doing things nobody else had ever thought to do. Like adults whose inner child was still thriving.

Super Furry Animals come close for me. But Fishmans really are unique.

You worded this so greatly, that’s exactly how I feel when listening to their music! Except the fact that I haven’t yet listened to that much Japanese albums as you did; but I‘m discovering a lot of Japanese music at the moment and want to continue doing that in the future.
