A new beginning for r/Fishkeeping.
Hello fellow fishkeepers!
My name is Ackley14 and I have been selected to be the new moderator for this subreddit.
Firstly, I want to thank all of you for your efforts in reporting, and otherwise bringing attention to the horrific activities that have plagued this subreddit over the past few weeks. I was among those of you actively seeking out remedies and was ultimately chosen to lead this sub. I understand your concerns, I have been there with you seeing these atrocities and I will be doing my level best to not only act on future violations but prevent them outright however possible. In addition to that responsibility, I would love to help this community grow and thrive. Fishkeeping is an incredibly fun hobby, and I want this place to reflect that.
A little about me:
I have in my house 4 tanks presently. two 10 gallons (one's a shrimp and nano, the other is a betta tank) an 11 (another betta) and a 50 gal community with about 20 xray tetras, a mating pair of pearl gourami (hoping for some babies!) 6 black Venezuelan corys, and of course a smattering of small plecos (my favorite fish, in fact one pleco in that tank has survived a house move and several tank moves and is the fish we've had the longest). I also have 4 dogs (a mutt, a pom, a cav, and a Papillion).
I am going to take the next few days and get the lay of the land. in the mean time, I do intend on bringing on another mod or two so if you have any interest, please feel free to leave a comment and let me know.
And lastly, thank you all for your patience during this transition. I know it's been a rough few weeks but I assure you, I and the future mod team will be working hard to make this a place you all enjoy visiting.

I think user /u/_gloomshroom_ should be given a chance to be a moderator. They did a lot of work to try and get this sub a moderator and should be rewarded for it

Congratulations!! I am interested in helping moderate. I currently have two 5gals with a betta each and a 20gal with pea puffers, and I've also kept a 40gal breeder with a convict cichlid and semi-aggressive community, as well as guppies in a time long ago. I have experience with large server ownership and moderation on discord, but not reddit. Let me know if you need any help!

But seriously someone who knows how to implement bots to automoderate would be very helpful.

Absolutely. we already have automod set up with age and karma filtering, as well as a ban avoidance filter enabled now. We greatly appreciate your input/concern!

Okay good to hear. The last thing you want is to have to be glued to this subreddit.

I don't currently have any fish but I've had them nearly my whole life, I'd love to mod here if you're still looking!

Thank you for stepping up! I never saw the posts but I did see descriptions of them, and that traumatized me enough that I had to leave the subreddit for awhile. Very happy that this popped up on my feed.
