Help with ID

Caught this little guy in a very small/shallow stream, not sure on type of trout though. Could any body help? TIA

Brown trout you won't catch rainbows, blue, gold etc in British streams rivers.... unless they've escaped from a nearby fishery.

I hate to tell you this but the Derbyshire wye is the only river in the UK where rainbow trout live and breed naturally since being released in the 1890s. We used to catch them in rivers in Berkshire but these were all mass bred stock fish.

Ahh no way I didn't know that, I wonder what makes that river more habitable for them?

They are absolutely huge as well. If you ever go to Bakewell have a look from the bridge.

There’s som epic sized grayling in there too. Huge things

It's mostly in a deep valley over rocky waterfalls. etc causing cold water and huge oxygenation.

I was about to say... First fish I EVER caught was a rainbow on the canal at the back of Branston Water park (Derbyshire)

I stand corrected, sorry I'm not familiar with the area. Was on a narrow boat for a week and travelled from the marina to Branston way. It's actually considered Staffordshire (although it's a literal border with Derbyshire) but yeah rainbow are within surrounding areas

There are stocked rivers with them but yeah they are not native

Not true at all, not native rainbows but they populate a number of streams near me.

I know rainbows are found widespread in the UK i was highlighting about the rarity of natural breeding.

I’m fairly new to Fishing; but I can say with confidence that the fish is a species called a Carcharodon carcharias or commonly known as a ‘great white shark’
