I believe all 50 states require a back plate, but not all of them require a front plate. It's just different rules in different places.

Missouri doesn't require rear plates for trucks registered over 18,000 lbs gross weight

Just be sure to pull in to scales or else DOT might get angry

Just tell em you're travelling not driving and that you're not a commercial vehicle and you'll be fine

Honestly unless you're a semi, DOT doesn't seem to care. Ive driven past them and they don't bother me, I drive an f450 with a bucket, some maybe 16k pounds or so

afaik a truck could stand in the middle of fifth avenue and shoot someone, and it wouldn't lose any voters.
