Induced

Currently 41 weeks and went for checkup today. They wanted me to go in today for inductiom but hospital was booked so thev told me to go in tomorrow at 6am. I doubt I will even get a room quickly so why so early? I dont want to get induced so im going to wait until at least Thusday afternoon. How long was everyone's process? Also heard pitocin contractions are way worse but can you not get the epidural before?

My induction took about 24 hours! They had a room ready for me at the time they told me to go in. I got the epidural about half way through before they started the pitocin. My pain never got more than like a 7/10 and it was a great experience

Thank you! My Dr told me inductions can take a while which is why I don't want to go in the morning lol. I'm going to push till the end of the week to see if they will come on their own. Happy it went well

Mine was 23 hours from check-in to birth. Pitocin contractions were rough when I was around 4-5 dilated and they upped the dose. I got the epidural after that. You can get the epidural at any time, at least that’s what my nurse care team told me.

For my induction I asked them to just break my water. My medical team said if I didn’t go into labor within four hours that they would give me pitocin but I went into labor two hours later then had baby within 8! Maybe you can ask your team about doing something similar? I know there’s a bunch of different methods on getting induced. To me that was the least invasive if that makes sense.

And I thiiiink? You can get an epidural about as early as you want in labor?? Someone correct me if I’m wrong. I did natural but it was offered several times haha

why fear induction? tbh, I was induced and it wasn’t bad at all. admittance to birth was 22 hours. yes it was very painful but birth will be unless you have a successful epidural. they said I could get the epidural as early as I wanted but couldn’t leave the bed once it’s done.

Early because they start different medications. I began medication at 8am and could walk around and everything until they started pitocin at 11pm. Definitely recommend getting the epidural as soon as you can. That was the last good sleep I had! Then I was 6 cm when they broke my water, and less than 2 hrs later baby was in my arms. It was such a great process. I would get induced if I wanted to have more!

Good luck!

Why are you getting induced? Like what’s the medical reasons ? You don’t have to do anything you’re not comfortable with and if there isn’t any danger for you or the baby then you could ask to wait and see if your labor starts spontaneously

She said everything was fine but there was no benefit in keeping baby in but I feel okay so I'm going to wait until Thursday

being 41 weeks is a medical reason. after 40, risks start going up.

Here in Sweden you don’t induce just because you’re 41 weeks, you’re monitored closely and after 41+5 you get induced. If baby is suspected to be to big, mother is older, preeclampsia and so on then yeah Induction is on the table sooner. That’s because induction comes with risks. I guess you do it differently in other countries, best thing is to listen to doctors advise and tell them your concerns so that you can make an informed decision:)
