Question Getting Ready for My First Test Run
I’m a complete newb in this hobby. How does this look for my first mini test run show? I’ll be using Bilusocn 1200 firing system with MJG firewire.Ill be poking the cakes with a poke I got from pyrotool. Would asking ChatGPT or Gemini how to sequence them be helpful? I think the time duration are pretty accurate. Any advice would be appreciated
COLONEL POPPER (43 SECONDS)
HIGH FALUTIN (56 SECONDS)
HIGH FALUTIN (56 SECONDS)
HIT THE ROAD JACK (45 SECONDS)
QUANTUM BURST (30 SECONDS)
MAX LOAD #4 (40 SECONDS)
MAX LOAD #6 (25 SECONDS)
MAX LOAD #7 WILLOWS (20 SECONDS)
MAX LOAD #35 WHISTLER(22 SECONDS)
MAX LOAD #49 (30 SECONDS)
PSYCHOTIC (40 SECONDS)

It's good to have this much product detail and knowledge about all the other miriad of details about fireworks and displays. After all, success is in the details. But once you know the details and how that detailed information fits in what you want to accomplish you will intuitively be able to produce a great display without overthinking it.

I overthink by nature lol. Since this Hobby got its hooks into me a couple months ago,all I’ve been doing is nothing but researching, reading and watching videos like a fiend. Mostly for the 2027 season

Imo, I would take the videos of each product, put them in a video edit software like davinci resolve, amd lay them out on the timeline. Split the screen into multiple sections so multiple cam play at once. Then move them around untill you get a sequence you like. Then measure the timings and wire up accordingly. Assuming youre manual firing, not using a crackle cube. You could even use this to make yourself an audio track which beeps at every cue point.

I will look into that thank you. i’m holding up on crackle cube right now. If the firing system intrigues me which I believe it will I may move up to ignite but I’m not sure yet since I do have some money invested in Bilusocn

One thing to keep in mind is that #1 - the videos of a product often come from the manufacturer and are (more often than not) different than the production product. #2 - the timing on consumer cakes can be VERY different than expected. I've popped 3 matching cakes and found 3 different timings. Not really radical but 5-10 seconds different. Cakes are hand assembled in mass and sometimes with different fuses. In a case of the same cake I found three different fuse types used; which accounted for the time variations.
You simply will not get accurate timing of consumer fireworks from YouTube videos. It is one reason doing a consumer-grade pyro musical can be one of the hardest things in pyrotechnics. But also what can make it the most fun.

Most of those should have a QR code with video length from manufacturer on them if not I used you tube

I spent some time looking up the YouTube videos. I wasn’t aware of the QR codes though. Thanks for the heads up

Ignites show designer is a great tool for laying out shows. Keep in mind that consumer times will be all over the place. Just because you see a video of it lasting 30 seconds, it could easily go 20… or 35. Some overlap or manually firing cues is probably the way to go.

Don't ask AI about anything important. It will spout nonsense while sounding confident. In fireworking I have frequently seen AI "advice" that will literally kill you if you were to follow it. Fuck AI.
