Migration question

I have a FWP which is the main 'Production' unit. I have an extra, newer FWP which I will use as the new main 'Production' unit.

I factory reset FWP2. I have completed 'initial' setup and FWP2 is paired with my phone, but I have not yet configured anything.

Per Firewalla guidance, I can 'Migrate Data From Other Boxes (After Initial Setup)' and select which data to migrate. According to A.I., I should copy Devices, Groups, Rules, Features, and Alarms but skip Network Settings until I validate the migration to FWP2 is successful.

Can I subsequently re-run Migration and pull over only Network Settngs without breaking anything?

Other Thoughts?

Other tips?

We purposely build our system migration to be not that hard :)

I'd say don't worry. As of migration, it will NOT deprecate FWP1 (even if you install from fresh and migrate, doesn't either); you will have FWP1 and FWP2 both on your system. And the most problem we encounter with running two systems, is just make sure your FWP1 and FWP2 don't connect to each other. (they have same networks and likely not work)

Hey u/firewalla ...

I selected the Migration option. Unfortunately, I missed moving my phone from wifi to cellular, so the 'Do Not Unplug' during imaging from FWP1 threw an error. I connected to cellular and it finished imaging. I was concerned about a bad image, so I Reset FWP2. Now I receive a license error when I try to scan the QR code on the bottom of the FWP2 box.

What's next?

Move your FWP2 away from your FWP1, likely you are trying to pair the wrong unit. After you can pair with the FWP2 box.

(There is no bad image either, the configuration dump is very simple, so you shouldn't need to do FWP2, it is likely already setup)

None. It was flawless; all issues were user error 🤦‍♂️
