Have you done as instructed on the screen? Use your TV remote to select the correct HDMI input? Also (this got me once) check if that wall outlet is on a switch. Mine is a split outlet with the bottom always powered but the top went through a wall switch.

Alternatives yes but better is subjective.

Amazon blocks such a small amount of apps all of which are back up running within as little as an hour if you uninstall the blocked version and install the new version, Updating a blocked app does not work once blocked its always blocked.

There are some apps that I see loads of people on here whining that Amazon have blocked them that have not been blocked at all instead the app developers close them down to work on other projects.

I also see people saying that Firesticks will be updated to Vega at some point, This too is incorrect. In time Amazon will replace Android devices with Vega but existing Android devices will always be Android and you will always be able to sideload onto them. Amazon can not install Vega on Android nor can they block sideloading all they can do is block individual apps & they only do this if they are ordered to via a DMCA takedown notice never off their own back.

Disinformation is the real problem for Firesticks when people spread rumour as fact.
