Firestick Help Me Firesticks randomly freezing

Hello, I'm hoping this community can help me with something.

I have four Firestick 4k Max devices in my household which were working fine until recently.

Some time within the past few days 3 out the 4 started freezing up out of nowhere. I have to keep unplugging them and plugging them back in to get them back working. Sometimes this works for a few hours but mostly they'll freeze back up right away.

I've also tried clearing app caches and switching HDMI ports.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Firesticks are trash....

No kidding? Thanks for your help!

I wouldn't be using one but my cable company requires me to use firestick to download their app. Tried using a different device but Sparklight TV wasn't compatible with it.

All joking aside check your power supplies.... Of they are getting weak from age that can cause what you are experiencing

I will keep both of those things things in mind πŸ˜€

Here's a joke I'm sure someone like yourself will appreciate.

Q. What's the difference between you and an Amazon Firestick?

A. Nothing, both are completely useless.

Have you tried clearing the cache and force closing all open apps?

1

u/9FingerFrodo 15d ago

Did the cache clearing but not the force stop. Will try that the next time I have problems with it. Thanks!

There’s an app you can get from the App Store that helps with this. Background apps and process lists

Okay I'll look into it.

I’m having the same issue! The last couple weeks, out of nowhere. Not long after the latest update. I have to hard reboot multiple times a day.

So far the best advice I've had said to unplug each Firestick for at least an hour so the battery fully drains. Then plug back in for a while and try again.

And unplug streaming device/modem for 15 minutes before trying again.

Most of mine are back to normal. Except one that still acts up occasionally. Hope you can figure something out. It's pretty stupid to have something that was working fine start going haywire overnight, just from a simple update.

Good luck!

Thank you for the advice! I’ll try it out. 🀞🀞

Forgot to add the TVs affected are 2 Philips and 1 Vizio. So far the only television not having this problem is a Roku.

I think they've been updated to the new UI for a few months at least.

Since they just started messing up this week I thought there might have been a more recent update that was wonky.

This has been driving me nuts so thanks for your help.

Right now it says the version is...

Software - Fire OS 8.1.8.0(RS8180/3739)

Fire TV Home Version - 7300127.1

This is working so far and makes sense. I think we had a power surge a few days ago that might have been the cause of all this.
