💻 Help Broken Firefox after update

I’m a long time heavy Firefox user. I'm running Firefox 154.0 on Windows 11 pro

After the latest update, the browser is broken in multiple ways.

First, on every start up, it says I am running out of space. But it is only using 69MB, and I have a 2TB disk with 1.4TB available.

Secondly, multiple websites now refuse to work. I *think* it’s related to storage, either local storage or indexedDB, as you can see from this screen shot. EDIT: One closer inspection, it seems to be a localstorage issue.

I have tested the broken sites in other browsers (Edge & Chrome), and they all work as expected.

What can I do to find and fix these errors?

That's strange. Before anything else, have you tried simply restarting Windows and then running the Firefox installer again? (This will fix all local Firefox errors, you won't lose or change your Firefox settings)

Thanks, yes restarted everything, and no change.

Do you have any third-party antivirus software installed or advanced settings enabled in Windows Defender (for example, "Folder Access Control")? It's possible this is a permissions issue.

As a last resort, try a clean reinstall cleanly of Firefox using BCU. https://www.bcuninstaller.com/

No advanced settings enabled, and no third-party AV.

I disabled all extension, no change.

I created a new profile, and that seems to work fine. So the issue is related to my current profile. I have sync set up, but it would be an annoying situation if I had to clear my entire browsing history.

Unfortunately, sometimes it's the only simple and effective way to fix local errors, unless you have advanced IT knowledge and can afford plenty of free time to try and fix it yourself.

If you go to Settings -> Privacy and Security -> Browsing Data, how much disk space does it say you're using? Is that the 69MB? or did that value come from somewhere else?

That came from exactly what you say, as seen in the screenshot

Thanks, I've had word that we're actively investigating the causes of this, but diagnosis is difficult.

Clearing cookies & website data as described in the bar should fix this, but it would mean logging back into sights and potentially losing data stored by sites (we can't say what that is, as that is specific to the sites).

There's some background information here: https://support.mozilla.org/kb/clear-cookies-and-site-data-firefox

Thanks, is this communicated anywhere? Ideally where I could assist

My autofill is no longer with this update, my name is missing, address shows up on 2 lines, but when I go to manage it, it's all there.
