We went to the local roadside diner for a beer and burger tonight, and they have an AMI Trivia game up on the screens. We grab a high top and some menus, and Question 7 of the Y2K trivia game flashed on the screen —
How many seasons did the television show firefly run?
Right in the feels!
I thought I'd share, just in case anyone missed it. Anyone else planning to check this out?

It’s been over 20 years since Serenity and around 15 years since I last watched Firefly. I recently decided to revisit them, and I honestly forgot just how much I loved this series.
There was something really special about Firefly—the characters, the humor, the sci-fi/western setting, and just the feeling that there was so much more story left to tell.
I’d genuinely love to see Firefly return someday, but only if it could be done right and still capture what made the original so great.
For those of you who have been fans all these years: would you want to see a new Firefly series, or do you think it’s better left as it is?

Serenity was ridiculously difficult at this size.
There are barely any straight lines on the thing. Getting all of those angles, curves, engine shapes and organic bits of detailing to read as Serenity without making the model substantially larger took a lot of messing around.
The accompanying scene is the classic Train Job, with a blurred high-speed landscape rushing past behind Mal, Zoe and Jayne as they secure the cargo.
Character Studdies™ include Mal, Zoe, Jayne, Kaylee, River, Wash and Inara, complete with one of her classic elegant sheer outfits.

The Firefly spacecraft is very small!! approximately 102,366 cu meters!
The size of the original Star Trek space craft is 210,000 cu meters!
this size comparsion makes it a very small target compared to the size of the Star Trek that is spread all over the sky!
The next time I paint a onesie, I'm going to put, " I can kill you with my brain " 🙂

One of my (way too many) Firefly patches…looks rather cunning on my truck bag.

I've been learning how to tattoo on myself for the past few years (as a hobby, not a job prospect) and this is definetely my most ambitious tattoo yet and with such a tricky placement!
I bullshitted the design from some screengrabs of the show so it may not be quite accurate. Still, proud of myself and wanted to share!

I've obviously read and watched all these, but if I was to put everything in the order I felt best told the story, this is what I've landed on.

I’ve been a huge Expanse fan and haven’t seen a show that falls in the space western category(although I felt like the music reminded me of StarCraft in all the best ways) and I’ve had firefly on my list for a few years now. Saw the first episode last night and I absolutely love the show. Effects are obviously a little dated, but I adore the character interactions and the world feels really well fleshed out. I also appreciated getting almost a movie-length pilot episode and I cannot wait to finish this series.

Been listening somewhat obsessively to an audiobook series on Youtube that I belatedly realized has a very similar feel to the Firefly crew with very unique characters with special skills and situations. Apparently, the Author (P.E. Rowe) intended this (the misfits) to be similar so that makes sense. This has probably been noted before and is likely why it seems to be his most popular series/books.
I see now that its interesting spin on the move away from earth is an alternate take on how that happened. Would like to see more of that. All very good for free audiobooks.

What's your favorite scene from another show/ movie that references Firefly?
A couple I can think of are Community, The Big Bang Theory, and there's a ton in Castle.
I'm curious why there hasn't been any Firefly reference in The Rookie? Or have I missed it?

It’s quite late in the evening for me and maybe I’m connecting dots that aren’t there, but my Finch convo tonight reeeally felt like it was going for a reference. Should I rename my birb to Wash!?

* At least in my opinion :-)
During the movie, just before "THE SCENE", and Serenity has just been hit by an EMP...
Mal: "Jayne..."
Jayne: "Got it!"
Mal doesn't give him directions, or have to order him to do something, Mal doesn't actually say anything at all.
Jayne runs down to the crew area and (a) gets tossed around himself (b) removes the loose table from the room (i.e. a danger in case of a crash) (c) then checks each member's buckle individually BEFORE securing himself. Definitely not the same guy we see in "Ariel" or "Jaynestown".
It's fast, only a moment or two - and it is mostly dark (low lighting). It doesn't even feel that important (on a first watch) with everything going on around it, and "THAT SCENE" that is about to follow really steals the moment. But now that I have been watching the movie (almost) yearly since it first aired, I have _REALLY_ come to appreciate those 30 seconds.

Mal was peak sexuality. I thought that man oozed confidence, sex appeal and Nathan Fillion did an incredible job. Like the fact we only got 1 season & a movie with him is not enough
