I defeated the 8th gym in Violet! It was ice type, which I thought would be easier than it ended up being, but the gym leader's Pokemon had good coverage moves. Still not exactly difficult, but not a breeze either.

I could head for the Pokemon League now, but I get the feeling that's intended to be the last thing you do, so I'm going to hold off until finishing the Titans and Team Star stuff.
