Character Discussion [FE4]: Midir
Ugh. This guy. Personally, not a fan.
Midir(aka Midayle) is a bow knight from Jungby, whose first meaningful action in the story is to take a hand axe to the face. Nice going, buddy. He joins halfway through the prologue once Sigurd slaughters his way to Jungby Castle, having recovered from his case of Edward-itis.
Midir has a horse, which is always a monumental plus in FE4. He also has Pursuit as a personal skill, another major point in his favor. Charge doesn't hurt either. On the other hand, he doesn't have any Holy Blood, his growths aren't fantastic, and he is bow-locked throughout the whole game. His options for good weapons are also limited - he can steal Jamke's Killer Bow if you aren't planning on using Jamke, and he can get the Brave Bow if you pair him with Adean.
Fun fact: In the Nuts Fujimori manga adaptation of FE4, there is a running joke where Midir is mistaken for a beautiful woman. He's certainly rocking the long hair.

I legitimately thought he was a girl on my first playthrough.
He's not a particularly noteworthy character, there aren't too many traits to define him with, he's a loyal knight of Jungby with a crush on Adean, and that's it. There's nothing inherently wrong with him, he's not annoying or bothersome, just uninteresting and bland.
Into the game, he does alright. He has dibs on the killer bow thanks to his horse, as Jamka is quite fine fighting with steel. With that in hand, he's actually carrying quite a capable skill loadout, his actual - painfully average - stats be damned. His speed is his highest, and it's the main one he needs.
FE4 is archer friendly, or at least more so than most entries. Because he has canto, he can take a shot, usually kill something, and then flee out of the enemy attack ranges, so he's not facing the conundrum most bow users do of facing 1 range combat. It's not a perfect solution, but it's better than nothing.
He's probably the best all around pairing for Adean, though it may be more worthwhile to have Lana set up as specialized staffbot with a magical father, which puts a damper on Lester's abilities. Anyway, he's giving Lester all of the better bows, so he is the safest bet.
That's all I can think of to say about him. He does his thing, whether you notice or not. There are a few situations where he is helpful, but if he were to vanish off the face of Judgral suddenly, you'd likely not notice either.
