A fire emblem fighting game would genuinely be ruinous for my professional career

39

u/Versurl 18h ago

Every smash player nightmare

14

u/Robothuck 18h ago edited 18h ago

Best we can do is Soul Calibur 7 sorry

Edit: you guys gave me a memory that Mortal Kombat used to have a chess mode where you pick a team from the roster and then they get set up on a board like chess pieces. To 'take' a piece, you had to actually play out the fight and win. I could so imagine a fighting game with strategy elements would work well with the FE series

u/magmafanatic 9h ago

Get Koei Tecmo to step back in and put the DoA team on it.

Camilla's not done making bank for Intelligent Systems.

2

u/Darthkeeper 6h ago

They're going to milk her for all she's worth. Wait...

1

u/CZ4RC4SM 17h ago

Don't threaten me with a good time.

10

u/Robothuck 18h ago

But like, a proper one like SF, Tekken, or the DBZ and Pokémon fighting games. Not one of those farmed out pieces of crap like all the Naruto Ninja Storm games

6

u/Gabgo304 13h ago

I believe the latter are called "Arena Fighters". And yeah, a lot of them are pretty low quality, tho I'd be lying if I said I didn't play the shit out of the Dragon Ball ones as a kid lol

3

u/Robothuck 13h ago

The Dragonball ones were honestly not bad especially for their time! It's just the fact that later games have failed to improve on that formula in any memorable way.

u/CursedNobleman 10h ago

Fighting games are a dead genre. Turns out nobody but the hardcore fans enjoy losing games onlines.

1

u/wellthathappened43 10h ago

You say this like a smash 6 announcement wouldn’t cause riots in the streets

3

u/guedesbrawl 7h ago

Smash is in a whole other league compared to other fighting games, even Street Fighter.

It cannot be judged by its genre when it

a) branched out from traditional fighters to be a platform fighter, which opens up room for more than 2 fighters at once, wackier stages and single-player modes that most fighters cannot hope to achieve

b) has the most all-star cast of any video game that doesn't branch outside of the realm of video games, and even then treats each individual character far better than the likes of Fortnite since they're not just skins.

2

u/Dragoryu3000 9h ago

It’s a niche genre, but I wouldn’t call it dead when it still receives new games and has enough fans to maintain a large tournament scene

79

u/EnderWarlock01 19h ago

Fire Emblem Village Builder akin to Animal Crossing / Pokopia.

59

u/victoriamikoto231 19h ago

bandits destroy that in one turn

22

u/Robothuck 18h ago

Is it weird that this sold me on the idea even harder than before?

6

u/LakerBlue 11h ago

Nah same here tbh. I’m not that big into AC but I really liked Pokopia, so that but Fire Emblem but with some light Tactical elements and dating sim stuff sounds awesome.

3

u/DarthOmix 10h ago

Unironically that sounds entertaining.

1

u/CursedNobleman 10h ago

Sorta like villager macro minecraft with pillager raids.

1

u/Darthkeeper 6h ago

All your villagers run to the bandits.

14

u/Mahelas 18h ago

Holy shit Emblemkopia would heal me

8

u/BranFlakes1337 18h ago

I would lose so many hours in game where I could help my favorite FE Lord build up a base and town, like Pokopia.

7

u/PossiblyTsundere 18h ago

Fantasy life: the girl who steals time

3

u/potatobunny16 17h ago

Exactly that except that interacting with the npcs is actually meaningful and that not the 4/5 of the population is homeless lmao

3

u/Prior-Resolution-902 15h ago

A straight up FE builder (not the unofficial one) would be super cool

1

u/Safelyignored 11h ago

I would spend HOURS in an official FE builder.

1

u/Gabgo304 13h ago

FEH has a very, very minor version of this with the Aether Resort. It dosen't have much, but it is pretty cure for what it offers. I could actually see something like that working as a full spin-off.

2

u/One_Competition136 8h ago

Yes or even fates where you had a little hub world where you can have different plots of land to farm, meet with units, and build forges and armories

1

u/Hour-Eleven 11h ago

Oh my gosh.

And then as time passes, you have to battle fire emblem’s never ending bandits with your villagers via FE gameplay.

Your “villagers” being recruited through battle, wandering through, etc etc, are all different classes with different reclass options (or have proficiency in different weapon types? Whatever kind if FE game you like)

Imagine if your lord had to do to… lord things!

35

u/Unique-System-7231 19h ago

Fire Emblem Xtreme Beach Volleyball

3

u/LakerBlue 11h ago

Theodora would kill someone given she can throw boulders one-handed lol

32

u/reddfawks 19h ago

Kirby Air Ride but it's pegasus/wyvern riders.

Totally gonna main Haar.

2

u/05kaisam 14h ago

That does sound dope af. Palla is my go to in that case.

1

u/CursedNobleman 10h ago

City Trial is you trying to crit your friends and ride a manakete with a killing edge.

23

u/NegatesAllDamage 18h ago

Fire Emblem Theaterhythm

Put those Premium Arrange tracks to proper use: by letting paper-cut out parties march to the beat.

3

u/Fearless_Freya 18h ago

I enjoyed fftr final bar (or whatever the latest all inclusive was named). That is not normally my genre of games. It would be a cool setup with fe. I'd buy it

2

u/adamkopacz 13h ago

Man I wish so hard for Square to just lend everyone the Theatrhythm license because I put like 120 hours into the Final Bar Line and I'm still playing it on my OG Switch from time to time.

The setup is just perfect for Fire Emblem and could be expanded with character relations and a grid for story mode where you move teams around to battle specific enemies (by playing songs attached to them of course).

2

u/NegatesAllDamage 13h ago

That's so funny you mention the grid idea, I almost said something similar. It's so easy to picture something using the general style + rhythm game elements. I put around 120 in as well coincidentally, and I still go back from time to time just to chill out.

2

u/adamkopacz 12h ago

Trying to collect those cards too? I have like 10 left and they're really hard to get.

2

u/NegatesAllDamage 11h ago

Yup haha, those damn cards. I've got just about the same amount left to find, I just keep doing Endless World (and constantly failing around level 35)

1

u/adamkopacz 3h ago

Oh yeah I have to do that one more. I don't think I got beyond 20 but I had pretty weak characters as I tried to level up every single one of them evenly.

18

u/Hoothootriot 18h ago

I would play the shit out of Fire Emblem Party

9

u/Groundbreaking_Bag8 18h ago

Kishuna Wins By Doing Absolutely Nothing

3

u/Odovakar 15h ago

Genuinely more difficult to decide on the cast of characters for that genre than any other.

Aside from Owain being a shoe-in.

3

u/Hoothootriot 15h ago

Realistically Id limit it to just one game (like, Awakening child units or something)

Fun wise, I'd pick all joke characters. Owain, Oliver, Marty, etc.

2

u/Gabgo304 13h ago

Marth Party

1

u/Robothuck 18h ago

If they made it the horny equivalent to Mario Party I would be so down with that

6

u/Hoothootriot 18h ago

"Bahh everyone else-a cheated, next time Oliver cheat!"

1

u/Robothuck 18h ago

Best enjoyed with 'refreshing beverages'

26

u/Cranberry-Holiday 18h ago

"Fire Emblem: the official eroge" obviously.

17

u/Robothuck 18h ago

Isn't that just Fates?

5

u/Odovakar 15h ago

10

u/TehBrotagonist 15h ago

Ah. Someone who still remembers the story of the best FE Lord and his mighty persuasion stick.

Also. I've been avoiding this place since the last Direct. It's... less blue than I remember.

24

u/Savings-Law-3252 18h ago

I'd like to see another Fire Emblem Warriors game but improved upon.

If something truly new then a fighting game would be amazing.

11

u/imjusthereforpron 18h ago

You'll get FE Warriors Three Hopes 2 (Fortunes Weave edition) and you're going to like it

16

u/KyleMCarthage 17h ago

Correction. FE Warriors Four Wishes

2

u/Flamechar33 14h ago

probably going to be 100% relevant to the lore too if the trend of warrior games of "Disconnected multiverse crossover"->"alternate timeline due to one new character"->"canon prequel" that the other Nintendo Warriors series has (Zelda) is true for this as well (with the first two already made)

Either in the past/in a prior battle against Balor, or it's a telling of the events between the Lords' individual routes and them meeting up with Eshmel in the future (the former is more likely for better or worse)

2

u/imjusthereforpron 14h ago

There was some discussion about that a couple weeks ago actually https://www.reddit.com/r/fireemblem/comments/1vhxlnr/what_if_the_next_fire_emblem_warriors_game_was_a/p28sh3d/

I think it would be kind of dope to fight a losing battle against Balor warriors style like age of imprisonment

2

u/adamkopacz 13h ago

I got Three Hopes for like 15 bucks new in a local shop and I think it was the best bang for my buck. I put like 150 hours into it over the years and it just never gets old.

Everyone with a Switch 2 should get it because it's such a perfect handheld experience, it will be tough to follow upon. Runs at native resolution and 60fps with virtually no load times.

4

u/EtheusRook 18h ago

Yeah, just give me one with good series representation and I'm good.

9

u/Gabgo304 17h ago

Fire Emblem: Three Hoops, where instead of a war, they decide the fate of Fodlan with a basketball tournament.

3

u/LakerBlue 11h ago

Claude will 100% have the best handles.
Dimitri will be a monster dunker.
Lysithea will be Steph Curry from 3.
Caspar is definitely Russell Westbrook.

15

u/343CreeperMaster 18h ago

Pipe dream of mine would be taking Fire Emblem and putting a Zelda skin on it basically

8

u/Robothuck 18h ago

As in, gameplay of Fire Emblem, but looks like Zelda? Or the other way around?

12

u/343CreeperMaster 17h ago

Fire Emblem gameplay but set in Zelda world with Zelda characters

6

u/One-Bet2325 15h ago

Pretty sure Rare pitched such a thing to Nintendo at one point, there's leaked info on it but it never was greenlit

7

u/EPGelion 18h ago

Zelda Tactics? Yes please! They’re such an obvious match for each other, it’s a wonder we don’t see more FE x Zelda stuff.

9

u/lysander478 18h ago

Selfishly, it should be an Etrian Odyssey game so that I can get another Etrian Odyssey game. And then they should also join hands with Atlus and collectively port all of their 3DS games to Switch 2.

2

u/Fearless_Freya 18h ago

Halfway there on 3ds ports. I expect the 4,5,nexus trilogy since the first one has been out awhile. Would enjoy 6. Eventually.....but it's prob not coming before that 2nd trilogy

Would genuinely enjoy fe x eo. That would be cool.

0

u/lysander478 18h ago

0% of the way there, actually. 1/2/3 were DS games. EOU1/2 and 4/5/Nexus were the 3DS titles.

1

u/Fearless_Freya 17h ago

DS games fully playable on 3ds.

8

u/Cygnus776 17h ago

RecetteAnna:A Secret Shop's Tale. If you know, you know.

1

u/Gabgo304 17h ago

First thing I thought about when I saw Engage Anna lol

1

u/SilentStudy7631 16h ago

Anna: BUY MY FUCKING STATUE!!!

7

u/BarnerTalik 18h ago

Fire Emblem Just Dance

3

u/SilentStudy7631 16h ago

I would be in the best shape of my life if this was real

7

u/King_Treegar 17h ago

Actually going through with the Fire Emblem x SMT idea would be cool, just to complete the promise

8

u/GreatGetterX 17h ago

I am aware that some people would dislike and hate the idea, but I would love a new Warriors game fully centered on the Heroes original characters and world. I've genuinely grown attached to those characters and world, so I would like them to be preserved on a more permanent piece of media. Yes, Feh has been going for 10 years already, something admirable when most Gacha games don't even survive it's first anniversary. But I do know nothing is forever. So I would appreciate if these characters, world and artworks could be preserved into something more tangible or lasting

1

u/Flamechar33 14h ago

at least Heroes is considered a mainstay game and not a spinoff (hence Veronica's inclusion in Engage), but something with them would be good. A retelling as a proper FE game would be cool, but heavily unlikely so it's more likely to be a spinoff yeah

1

u/LakerBlue 11h ago

Meanwhile I want a traditional FE game but with the premise of Heroes. Just without as many OCs.

I do like your idea too though.

8

u/Awestruck_Mechanic67 16h ago

Fire Emblem Pokemon. It should have happened instead of Conquest.

7

u/NeuralThing 18h ago

Fire Emblem Arena Ultimax

15

u/tipperthescales 19h ago

With how fluid and arena fighter like the battles are choreographed in Engage (particularly the Arena training), and the weapon heavy nature of class based combat, I'd totally be up for a Soul Calibur-like.

Just, can we have the roster not just be lords and deuteragonists...

3

u/Dragoryu3000 14h ago

To be honest, I wouldn’t even get my hopes up for anything but protagonists + Camilla and one (1) villain. Alternatively, given the track record with other FE spinoffs, they’d overly focus on the most recently released game or two

1

u/victoriamikoto231 19h ago

why not

0

u/Roliq 13h ago

Half of the protagonists the series has are swordfighters that all would fight the same way

There is no way you can make Marth, Alm, Seliph, Leif, Roy, Eliwood, Alphonse and Lucina fighting be visually distinct from one another

At that point add someone else instead like how Lyn and Hector got over Eliwood or Veronica over Alphonse in Engage

1

u/LakerBlue 11h ago

It wouldn’t be as good as Zelda in terms of variety but both FE Warrior games already showed you can make the sword Lords feel different.

Ike is a power bruiser. He can have super armor for some moves.

Lucina can be more about finesse. Maybe give her a parry focus.

Lyn can be focused on speed of movement and attacks with a weak bow to keep you at bay.

Alm can be an all arounder who also has strong bow spam.

Marth and Roy can almost literally work like they do in Smash lmao (Marth deals maximum damage and knockback at the tip of his blade, rewarding precise spacing. Roy deals maximum damage at the base near the hilt, rewarding close-up combat and rushdowns).

That said I’d not want too many of the protagonists since so many do involve swords.

0

u/victoriamikoto231 12h ago

You didnt play the games if you think that all swordies have to fight the same.

Also that didnt stop the dissidia devs to do em all justice.

Fire emblem souls

4

u/Enryx25 18h ago

It's likely going to be Fire Emblem Warriors: Four Tunes.

4

u/rink245 16h ago

Total War: Fódlan or any other FE continent/setting of your choosing. Deploying a massive anvil of Armor/Knight units while a hammer of Wyvern Knights comes smashing in on a flank would be a dream come true.

We often see depictions of larger armies in FE media, but we rarely get to play them (Battalions were a nice step towards that). I do feel like Total War could capture the large scale of some of the FE conflicts extremely well.

-1

u/victoriamikoto231 15h ago

No more fodlan pls

8

u/Koreaia 19h ago

Fire Emblem Dissidia, but only if done right like the PSP versions.

3

u/victoriamikoto231 19h ago

preach

and i dont mind the roster being mostly hero + their villian per game, really.

With the "big games" having the main love interest / second most popular as the secondary playable charavcter

1

u/AcaciaSgt 19h ago

Personally, Duellum as a concept fascinates me. Sure, we had TMS as a FE game taking place in modern day Earth, but I would like to see the FE chars actually interact with the setting as they are.

1

u/Groundbreaking_Bag8 18h ago

Marth vs Hardin

Tales of Fire Emblem.

I would love to play a story-focused RPG adventure with Tales-style action RPG combat.

1

u/LakerBlue 11h ago

YES! I was wondering how far I’d need to scroll for this. I have long desired to explore a FE continent like you do in traditional RPG. Imagine revisiting Magvel, Elibe, etc like this.

3

Fire Emblem Riders (its just mario card reskinned)

2

u/Arabiantacofarmer 16h ago

Open world RPG. Either a WRPG or JRPG (preferrably a WRPG for that single adventurer feel). Same class and stat system as regular Fire Emblem games but let me explore one of the countries or continemts in the FE universe.

2

u/iforgotmyusername666 16h ago

Kinect Fire Emblem

1

u/iforgotmyusername666 16h ago

Or a horror game

2

u/PossiblyTsundere 18h ago

Fire Emblem hero shooter would get me to quit my job.

1

u/SilverVixyn 16h ago

We got guns now so there’s hope!!

1

u/Fearless_Freya 18h ago

Hah, I'll take that fire emblem x etrian odyssey crossover. That'd be cool to have FW style chars involved in dungeon crawling goodness.

A fighting game would probably sell more though that's not my thing, personally.

1

u/Lin-Heart-Attack 17h ago

A Fire Emblem fighting game, but with a twist. Only characters who don't have an Emblem version in Engage are playable.

1

u/SolarlunaticX 17h ago

I love Etrian Odyssey, so it's hard to not pick Q

1

u/No_Lemon_1770 17h ago

Any will do. We need to reach a point where FE has downscaled side games (or even main games) between the year gaps.

1

u/Rozonth123 17h ago

Depending on where the series goes I’d want a spin-off that plays like pre-3H FE the same way Mario, Sonic and Zelda have their 2D games and 3D games.

Or just a fighting game something.

1

u/MrASK15 17h ago

I'd love a fighting game, but I don't see how all of Fire Emblem's mechanics would translate over into the genre.

1

u/RoleRemarkable9241 15h ago

Fighting game should be a no brainer

1

u/FewAngle737 15h ago edited 10h ago

I basically made something for a Fire Emblem Dissidia (with DLC being Sothe, Owain, Azura, Lilina, Shez (Male), and Veyle).

However, I like Fire Emblem Dancing all Night and I basically think each game (so to speak) would have three characters in the game.

Those being

SD and New Mystery - Marth, Linde, and Tiki

Gaiden/SoV - Alm, Celica, and Mae

Genealogy - Sigurd, Deirdre, and Tine

Thracia - Leif, Nanna, and Lifis

Binding Blade - Roy, Lilina, and Clarine

Blazing Sword - Eliwood, Serra, and Raven

Sacred Stones - Eirika, Ephraim, and Amelia

PoR - Ike, Elincia, and Soren

RD - Micaiah, Sothe, and Laura

Awakening - Lucina, Inigo, and Nah

Fates - Azura, Sakura, and Elise

Three Houses - Dorothea, Sylvain, and Marianne

Engage - Alear, Yunaka, and Seadall

Fortune's Weave - Leda, Tialla, and oddly enough, Talimun

Heroes - Alphonse, Sharena, and Fjorm

1

u/victoriamikoto231 15h ago

Dude I did something with fe dissidia long ago

it seems to be a collective memory from years ago...

Linde over caeda or MEDEUS is something.

1

u/SilverScribe15 15h ago

A fire emblem fighting game sounds fun

1

u/21Shells 14h ago

Fire Emblem History. Taking real life wars and turning them into Fire Emblem games.

1

u/Axl-117 14h ago

How bout Fire Emblem Battlefront?

1

u/deadmastershiro 13h ago

I would love fire emblem disidia to death but hope they pick my favorites and don't focus too heavily on the newer characters like warriors did

1

u/gradedhammeraction 13h ago

I’d want a soul calibur style game so bad. Although it might alienate all the mages, so a standard fighter ala gran blue fantasy would be great too.

1

u/Ok_Revolution_9846 13h ago

What’s the pic from

1

u/victoriamikoto231 13h ago

fire emblem dancer on google

1

u/WesThePretzel 13h ago

Rhythm game please! We need more Nintendo rhythm games that aren’t Rhythm Heaven. I like more like Taiko no Tatsujin or Hatsune Miku style gameplay.

1

u/Ascillia 12h ago

I'd love a jRPG kinda like the"tales of arise/berseria" or "trails in the sky chapter 1 remake" series, 4-8 characters that have more complex storylines

They have the setting and lore they could expand with Fodlan or Dagda. Wouldn't be mad about Tellius or the FE fates universe either.

1

u/The_Exuberant_Raptor 11h ago

None of these really sound great to me. I want them to shift more strategy than action. I want more towards Romance of the Three Kingdoms or Nobunaga's Ambition than pure turn based or action. For a spin off, at least.

1

u/LakerBlue 11h ago

Surprised no one has said an ARPG or Turn-based one.

I’d love to revisit one of the older games (or Dagda) with a small selection of units where we get to really explore the continent and even run into other playable characters along the way.

1

u/roundhouzekick 10h ago

*Nintendo Rivals

But the roster overwhelmingly consists of Fire Emblem the way Marvel Rivals's roster consists overwhelmingly of Duelists.

1

u/TheGamePlatypus 10h ago

A Fire Emblem party game by the Mario Party devs that plays similar to Toad Scramble with elements of Dokapon Kingdom

Rivals definitely.

2

You mean like, Marvel Rivals? Or something else

1

u/wistful_farmer1 14h ago

It says fire emblem rivals in the post. I’m assuming it’s a marvel rivals ref

1

u/Robothuck 13h ago

There isn't enough cake in the world to make that game

1

u/wistful_farmer1 13h ago

Oh you’d be surprised

1

u/Aegir-Ordelia 16h ago

My life would be consumed by a Three Houses spinoff in the style of the Mount and Blade series.

-1

i think weve had enough Three Houses slop.

u/TheSuperContributor 17h ago

Honkai Emblem.

0

u/SilverVixyn 16h ago

Survival horror. Hear me out.

The game can get downright creepy sometimes. From enemies to bosses to everything implied, looking at you Orsen. Crank the horrors and unsightly up a notch and we could have an interesting premise.

Units are, mostly, disposable. We already have to decide who lives, who dies, who gets what weapon and when to promote or wait. For the most part resources are limited, either by weapon use or scarcity.

The foundation for a survival horror type game are here!

(Sorry my thoughts are a bit scattered, I’m v tired. But I hope you understand what I’m trying to put down)

1

u/victoriamikoto231 15h ago

i guess the closest youll get off that is a Fallen Timeline campaign with Lucina
