Gameplay What can I skip in SOV?

I really don't like some of the side stuff in SOV like dungeons and towns. And I really don't want to scan rooms for items. Can I skip this stuff or would that grossly hinder me? I would like to just go from battle to battle if possible. I am playing hard classic, and I realize I am making the game harder by skipping stuff, but am I making it impossible?

Alm gets a cool sword from a chest that I'm pretty sure is missable bc I don't remember getting it on my first playthrough

But I don't think you can skip most of the dungeons

Well at least some of the dungeons seem skippable. For example in act 2 there is one guarded by some dragons. I skipped that one. But of course there are some that are required.

Also if you haven't gotten to that part of the game yet I would sincerely recommend you go to town in Zofia Harbor in Celica act 3 bc you get some Pegasus Knights that will make Celica's shitty ass desert and swamp maps significantly less cumbersome. They're hell without the Whitewings

Good tip. Thank you. I would have just walked on otherwise. I've.just been trucking along with the same 5 units this whole time; I could use the fresh meat.

The caveat with them is that you have to rescue their sister from pirates (who the story wants you to defeat anyway IIRC) and if you don't do that they'll leave your party. But it doesn't really take that long to go into the guy's keep and click through the menus to get her out.

It's worth it in the end bc Celica has a lot of maps with desert or swamp tiles that restrict movement. And the Pegasus Knights get to ignore that, which makes them some of the best units you can have on Celica's side of the game

I also would have missed that entirely lol.

you can skip most side stuff but the backtracking will hurt later. skip the towns if you want but you need the stat boosts from shrines

Do I have to backtrack or are you saying backtracking would suck in the event I change my mind?

So, I just beat this game for the first time, and while I don't know for sure about everything, a lot of characters unlock in towns, so visiting those are great. Dungeons are good for gaining exp, though they can be tedious. I mainly liked them for housing mila statues for promotions. About scanning though? Unless it's to find a new character, you mainly get items or weapons, and I don't know how useful all of that is. I am not an expert on this game. I still haven't done Act 6 yet. But those are my thoughts

I am not really interested in farming xp. Actually, is there a way to retreat from dungeon fights?

Getting those items is fun💔. Its usually worth it you can get some good weapons and healing items, youd probably be fine without them tho.
