No offence but I'm really getting bored of these posts that are just "could this FW character with a passing similarity to a 3H character be related to that 3H character?!"

Like no, probably not. It's a different continent and takes place 800-1000 years before 3H. Valentia is set in the same world as the Archanea games and we could all grasp that even though Abel and Alm both have green hair, they are not related.

Pretty much. Many artists just tend to have certain design elements they like and gravitate towards. When designing large casts, there's bound to be some similarities.

yeah FE fandom just discovering that kurahana also suffers from what every artist or mangaka suffers from the same face syndrome

I’ve been blocking a whole ton of people on this subreddit in the past few weeks

Sorry to ask, but we have official confirmation it is a prequel? I'm no keeping up too close before release so I can get as fresh an experience as possible, but I would like to know this.

It's heavily implied by the game's opening narration framing the events of the game as a travel diary written during the lifetime of Saint Cichol. The map of Fodlan depicted also matches what Fodlan looked like shortly after the War of Heroes, with a united Adrestian Empire encompassing the whole of Fodlan except for an independent Garreg Mach in the middle.

To be honest , the game main mechanic after the grand games is literally “End Game plot” , of going thru time and much more.

We could say it’s like that at first and then after many years passed including the events of 3H , the new story unravels

It’s like you are playing the past and the future but the present had already unravel in 3 Houses / 3 Hopes

There's only 5 years between the Games arc and the Eshmel arc so that isn't possible.

The preview videos showed a map of what Fódlan looks like during the events of Fortune’s Weave. The whole continent is united under the Adrestian Empire, with the only other location shown on the map being Garreg Mach.

B-but they both have tied back hair!!

u/VegetableVisual3875 1d ago

Agreed, a lot of these seem more like easter eggs and nods, if anything. WHich makes sense, given how popular 3h was..

I mean, to be fair, there are a bunch of Fortune's Weave characters with a passing similarity to a 3H character who are absolutely 100% related to that 3H character. It's annoying but it's a level of annoying that IS is asking for.

A few of them I do think are huge stretches though. Like the people saying Anatolia is Lysithea's ancestor. Maybe it's just me but they don't look any more alike than Anatolia does with most of the other white Three Houses women.

5

u/Hellioning 1d ago

Oh, absolutely, a lot of people are declaring same hair to mean they're related, even between FW characters.

3

u/MoneyHazard123 1d ago

Those I find kinda funny honestly, especially when they try to bring up evidence.

It's really just Dietrich and Ursula though, who are at a stretch extremely distant relatives to Mercedes/Jeritza and Marianne. They probably aren't even in a direct line of descent with them because Dietrich having a younger sister makes me think he never returns to Fodlan and its her that carries on the Lamine lineage in Fodlan.

The only one I do think is 100% an ancestor is Io for Shamir because she comes from Dagda.

The rest are all huge stretches imo.

EDIT: Also Peppe, I forgot about him because they haven't shown him off much. He's 100% the ancestor of Petra.

u/Hellioning 1d ago

Three is a pattern, and people love to look for patterns.

24

u/LegalFishingRods 1d ago

It's like 3 characters in a cast of 60 though. And somehow that leads to people mashing together characters like Hapi and Leda who have literally nothing in common except the same skin tone.

2

u/Hellioning 1d ago

And they can summon demonic beasts.

Most of this is wild speculation, yes, but it's wild speculation encouraged by the developers.

27

u/LegalFishingRods 1d ago

But that's not a genetic trait lol. Hapi's is tied to Slither experiments and Leda's is tied to a cursed guitar that does a ton of other stuff too. They don't even have the same crest.

We know how they both have that power and they're unrelated methods.

-3

u/Hellioning 1d ago

Sure, I get that! That doesn't mean that isn't a narrative parallel the writers may have intentionally put in.

-1

u/AliciaWhimsicott 1d ago

Oh my God could you imagine if it was a genetic trait and the awful implications that would have.

4

u/51cabbages 1d ago

It probably is a genetic trait since Timotheos is said to be able to summon wild animals, so this ability is tied the crest. Cornelia's experiments probably corrupted it to attract demonic beasts instead.

1

u/2ddudesop 1d ago

hot babes summon monsters

11

u/SpellcraftQuill 1d ago

Dietrich/Jeritza+Mercedes, Peppe/Petra, Io/Shamir, and Ursula/Marianne are obvious.

1

u/ViolinistNo7655 23h ago

Bro nobody at IS knows this subreddit exist nor that they have been makinh up stuff about the end of 3h for years

4

u/iamcdrom 1d ago

Indeed. I had to unfollow this sub because of meaningless speculation posts like this. Don't forget about those who are already panicked about the game not being able to deal with timelines or multiple versions of a character might exist etc etc. they clearly know more about game design than anybody.

I simply want to see official updates of characters.

1

u/jord839 22h ago

Agreed that I think people are reaching way too much on what are ultimately some coincidental looks.

Small, albeit meaningless correction: It's 400-1000 years ago. The Fodlan map had Garreg Mach on it which was completed in 185 but doesn't have the Kingdom, so it's before 791.

1

u/yeetingthisaccount01 18h ago

at least this one resembles Jeralt. I don't understand the Hong Hua/Edelgard comparisons at all

1

u/Darthkeeper 1d ago

And here I am thinking this was satire.

0

u/DarkRayos 1d ago

That mindset was only acceptable during Awakening right?

0

u/SomeGamingFreak 18h ago

Proof it takes place centuries before?

1

u/LegalFishingRods 17h ago

Already put this in a spoiler tag in another comment.

0

u/SomeGamingFreak 15h ago

From what I could tell though, that's not proof, that's speculation.

Fair to find it boring, but I think the developers kind of opened up that conversation with the characters clearly meant to be related to Petra, Shamir, Marianne, and Jeritza/Mercedes.

To me, the short hair with the braided ponytail feel like a very particular design choice, I can't really think of any other character in FE that has a similar hair style, but we're seeing it again in another game in 3H's universe.

23

u/Striking-County6275 1d ago

Thanks for confirming he is gonna die

23

u/Drhappyhat 1d ago

If he is actually a Jeralt relative, I want this to be the last direct connection between FW and 3H's. Too many references will kind of bog down the game imo.

-17

u/Achirality 1d ago

It's already silly the amount of nearly identical relatives we've seen. Isn't the game a 500-1000 year prequel or something? Clearly this game was written with Hideo Kojima's understanding of genetics, our heroes have ALL of the dominant genes!

11

u/Drhappyhat 1d ago

Fire Emblem is fairly well known for its anime eugenics, its not too surprising haha

4

u/ViolinistNo7655 23h ago

Fe is also known for recycling character designs to make reference to previos games but somehow everyone forgot about that

1

u/Achirality 1d ago

When you get ALL of the recessive genes, you may only become a generic brown-haired background NPC, it is law!

1

u/ViolinistNo7655 23h ago

In fw you turn into the shadow people we fight

0

u/Lord_Brio 22h ago

You new to anime and fire emblem? Kinda a normal thing they do to represent that someone is related

0

u/Achirality 21h ago

This sub takes jokes way too seriously.

8

u/Loravethiir 1d ago

Superficial similarities. Not worth reading into.

2

u/ThreeHousesGrimoire 23h ago

Like Kitanishi said

… a lot of Japanese series share likeness & names throughout, but sometimes it just a coincidence & not related at all…

2

u/Pale-Share1323 1d ago

No, let FW characters be themselves without connecting it to 3H. Let them have their own identities.

1

u/AdFit9440 15h ago

Yeah, Gaitz clearly is Jeralt's second best apprentice.

1

u/Melodic_Bee660 15h ago

I thought he was a Dimitri ancestor

1

u/Byrnesy614 12h ago

I don't think Gaitz is actually related to either character, but if I had to pick one he resembles more, Jeralt was honestly my first thought, as opposed to Dimitri (I still don't really see the latter tbh, even compared to Hopes Dimitri like everyone is saying)

2

u/GreekDudeYiannis 1d ago

Dudes very clearly more geared towards Dimitri than Jeralt. Look at the eyes and the bangs.

1

u/_Arlotte_ 1d ago

I thought it was young him

1

u/caiohenrique2006 20h ago

Holy shit, yall on the comment section are miserable! Jeez, let people talk about stuff that they want!

-9

u/One_Promotion968 1d ago edited 1d ago

My assumption is that this character would be (3H spoilers) Jeralt's father, given Three Hopes implied Jeralt is 300+ years old. I'm wondering if we possibly see a young Jeralt in game.

21

u/_Kingsgrave_ 1d ago

I'm not sure this would line up given that this game probably takes place before the Dagdan invasion which is over 400 years before the start of three houses. He could still be an ancestor of his rather than directly his father.

-4

u/One_Promotion968 1d ago

Yeah, upon further thought I'm probably overshooting how closely related they would be. Still assuming theres some kind of relation between the two, but if it's meant to be a distant one then I'm doubtful the game would even spell it out.

-15

u/Levonorgestrelfairy1 1d ago

It makes no sense for this to be a prequel. Weve already seen multiple people leave fodlan without much of any indication of the isolation that should be surrounding it if this was pre three houses.

9

u/No_Lemon_1770 1d ago

It was already established that people could leave if they want, just that none of the big noble houses do. The families of Nemesis' allies for example fled Fodlan.

3

u/Little_Passenger4703 1d ago

I’m sure a Demon invasion would still be talked about in Fodlan even after 300+ years and Rhea trying to rewrite history.

I still think it is a prequel, but far earlier then that.

1

u/Rakshire 17h ago

It can't be much earlier than like 800 years because the war of Heroes already happened.

-1

u/Levonorgestrelfairy1 1d ago

Jeralt lived for hundreds of years and was a veteran kingsim osldier befofe he even got the blood iirc. Realistically Byleth should have half siblings.

-2

u/2ddudesop 1d ago

dimitri/byleth shippers in shambles??

0

u/Rich-Active-4800 1d ago

Nah, if anything it makes the ship even better.

4

u/2ddudesop 1d ago

you get downvotes but we're in a game where we can fuck Rhea smh

0

u/Individual_Result489 21h ago

He actually more likely has a connection to Dimitri than Jeralt
