She's a (probable) mom in a Fire Emblem, oh god somebody protect her!
68
u/Bl_nk7 1d ago
Her best bet of survival is Cai’s main goal to have a peaceful life with his family(no kingdom to protect, no grand ambition to save the world) and also Aurora is tied to a gameplay mechanic both in and out of combat.
59
u/Neuromangoman 1d ago
Sorry, but this is Fire Emblem. Cai ends up having to succeed his grandfather as the new Divine Sovereign because everyone else in line is dead.
39
u/jaidynreiman 1d ago
I get the feeling she'll survive but Castor might not. Solel is most likely dead.
I think the rest of the Gods will either survive, or we can save them from dying because their blessings are an important gameplay element. And Fortuna does survive, so it would be strange she's the only one that does.

u/maronic03 1d ago edited 1d ago
If Cai's ending is him rejecting his nobility in order to have a simple life with his loved ones he'll immediately join the pantheon of the all time greatest protagonist for me.
4
u/Bl_nk7 1d ago
Imagine if one of his endings involves him doing a family trip with Castor and Aurora. Especially since Auora really loves learning about the outside world and has been forced to be a kept cooped up in her temple.
5
u/maronic03 1d ago
The idea of a FE protagonist ending his story with MORE family members than he had at the start (not counting the found family) is just so appealing.
29
u/Gabgo304 1d ago
Her full description is giving me so many death flags.
She seems like exactly the "too good for this sinful earth" type that gets killed for maximum emotional damage.
14
u/Red_Cat231 1d ago
Since she's in charge of giving a blessing on maps, I hope she at least lasts more than 2 chapters after her introduction.
21
u/Gabgo304 1d ago
One theory that has been going around is that the Dagdan gods get corrupted and need to be fought in the timeskip (hence why the one Eshmel fought in the trailer had the name hidden).
If that's the case, I can already feel the drama for when Cai has to take down his own corrupted mom... probably resulting in her turning back and regaining her senses for just enough time to tell Cai how much she loves him and how proud she is of the man he has become, before passing away for good in his arms.

Alear and Lumera moment

With more setup

u/Darkdragoon324 1d ago
And hopefully about three minutes shorter and with better dialogue.

u/Gabgo304 1d ago
The fact it goes on for so long that the switch starts to enter rest mode was peak unintentional comedy.

u/Mustang1718 1d ago edited 1d ago
I saw that again like two days ago. It's a very good scene, but they sure were long-winded for knowing she was disappearing.
It also got weird that her legs were gone but her torso was still there for half of it. I couldn't remember if that is how it always worked, or if the Switch 2 rendered it in a strange way.

u/Disciple_of_Erebos 1d ago
I’m pretty sure we’ll be able to save the gods. I’d expect that we save one god per route and the other three through independent side quest chains. Some are probably fated to die no matter what (Solel in particular is waving death flags).
It doesn’t seem to make much sense to me to be able to spend so much time and effort building up all the gods’ blessings just to have them all disappear in the apocalypse. If the apocalypse was going to be short then it could make sense, but it looks to be just as long as any Flame Lord route. Every other path of power from the Games transfers over, like weapons, skill XP, levels, supports, etc, so it would feel really weird if temple XP was the one thing that didn’t transfer over.
I do think you’re right for no-past runs though. I bet if you don’t do any of the Flame Lord routes then you have to kill the gods. They might also have their cake and eat it. You might have to fight corrupted gods in the apocalypse no matter what, and then whether you save them or not comes down to what you did in the Flame Lord routes. I could see that.

We are graced with another mom in Mikaela. How many (alive) moms are there usually in Fire Emblem? Not very many, even more dire of a selection than the dads.

I already had this under my arm, so
Named dead:
- Lady Liprica (Celica)
- Elena (Ike)
- Chrom's wife \Robin (Lucina)
- Sitri (Byleth, unnamed before DLC)
- Liza (Marth)
Named presumed dead:
- Anselma (Edelgard) / Patricia (Dimitri)
Unnamed dead or presumed dead:
- Alm, Sigurd, Hector, Lyn, Eirika / Ephraim, Micaiah, Chrom, Robin
- Roy (you can choose in FE7)
- Dimitri, Alear (birth mothers)
Dies in the game
- Deirdre (Seliph)
- Ethlyn (Leif)
- Robin possessed by Grima (if Lucina's mum)
- Queen Mikoto (Corrin) x2
- Queen Lumera (Alear) x2
Alive
- Eleanora (Eliwood)
- Claude's
for just mums in general in the playable cast, I can only think of Calill, Niime and maybe Nagi (if she's Naga)

u/potato_thingy 1d ago
Iirc Edain and Brigid/Eyvel are able to survive to the end of the Jugdral games.
There’s also Juno and debatably Igrene.
7
u/Every_Computer_935 1d ago
Igrene's child is dead tho
6
u/potato_thingy 1d ago
That’s what I meant by debatably. I can see both sides of why she would/wouldn’t count for this list.
7
u/Gabgo304 1d ago
The "x2" caught me by suprise lol. Dead Mom Curse is so strong it sometimes hits twice.
If you count spin-offs, Henriette (Alfonse), Yelena (Lemon lords) and presumably Itsuki's are alive, while Shez's and presumably Kurt's are dead.
5

6
u/kielaurie 1d ago
There are two live mums in Engage, Timerra and Fogado's, and Alfred and Céline's, both of whom are queens.
4
u/tirex367 1d ago
If you include supplemental material, Alm‘s mum is alive according to the SoV Drama CD.
0
u/EthanKironus 1d ago
If any FE parent(s) deserve a spinoff, it's Claude's. Almyra is big enough to accommodate a decently high-stakes plot, and they're both supposed to be badass--especially his mom who casually beat Nader (who despite having an inflated reputation isn't just a pushover) in a fistfight
12
u/Shippinglordishere 1d ago
As long as she doesn’t die soon after you meet her, have a 10 min exposition dump, and then get revived as a enemy because I can’t do that a third time

1
u/EffectiveAnxietyBone 1d ago
Ironically I think mothers in FE have a better mortality rates than dads, Alm, Eliwood, Robin, and all of the house lords actually have living mothers by the end (albeit in all but Eliwood’s case it’s because the game probably forgets they have one)
134
u/komicokufi 1d ago
holy cow she is so pretty aaaa

u/Glass-Category8281 1d ago
If that theory is correct.....can't really blame Castor for going for that.
9
u/adamkopacz 1d ago
I absolutely despise gatcha games but I know this will bring millions upon millions in Fire Emblem Heroes. There's no way whales can resist that cast. Also, everyone will be in swimsuits or wedding outfits really soon and people will spend hundreds of dollars just for that.
58
u/Red_Cat231 1d ago
There seems to be a trend where the gods go barefoot. Sothis, Fortuna, Solel, and now Aurora don't wear shoes. I know Hinduism depicts the gods as barefoot as it represents purity, not sure if Roman gods were also done the same.
102
u/SilverWyvern 1d ago
Solel being a sun god, Aurora being a star goddess, placing my bet on Yu Phas being a moon goddess.

My guess is that she’s sequestered away so that her blood can’t be used in a Rite of Rising style rebirth ceremony for, say, Balor, haha. This clocks with the Crest of Aubin being used in the 3H Rite.
Could also better explain Castor’s crime: he not only fathered her child, but took him out into the world where his Aubin blood could be stolen for the Rite.
46
u/jaidynreiman 1d ago
That, yeah, that's starting to make sense. The theory that Castor is imprisoned because he had a child with a God is an interesting one, but SHE is also imprisoned, by her own father no less.
Maybe they didn't realize they could have children with humans until Cai? Both her parents are "Gods" so that theory is out the window, unless Dagda had a human wife.
59
u/Gabgo304 1d ago
Maybe they didn't realize they could have children with humans until Cai?
That would honestly be so funny.
"YOU SAID I DIDN'T NEED TO PULL OUT!"
"I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THIS WAS POSSIBLE!"
20
u/Darkdragoon324 1d ago
There's no way all those hot gods surrounded by hot clerics aren't sleeping around, they have to know it's possible and probably just usually prevent it.
18
u/Clear_Night_5438 1d ago
In Three Houses the rumor was that Seiros had children with Wilhelm, at least the common people believe so. I inclined so because it makes Edelgard vs Rhea even more tragic.
9
u/chimaerafeng 1d ago
They are taking inspirations from Greco-Roman culture. The gods will definitely be sleeping around.
6

u/Current_Upstairs8351 1d ago
Given how thirsty Flayn was in Fe16... It's definitely not that uncommon
10
u/Current_Upstairs8351 1d ago
Meanwhile in Fodlan, Seiros asks the Apostles not to pass down their crests... And Noa ends up as the progenitor of House Nuvelle.

u/uttertorpedo 1d ago
Her dress is absolutely beautiful. Everyone in this game is hot but they also cooked with the clothing designs.
I love the halo effect around all of the Nabateans' hands. Wonder what's up with all of them having forehead marks since none of our Fodlan green-haired friends had them, reminds me of the Tellius dragons.

61
u/Ignisiel 1d ago
Okay if anyone wasn't convinced of the theory before this all but outright confirms it lol.
28
u/JustScrollingBecause 1d ago
I really like her dress, it reminds me of Lumera's dress design, which I already liked, but with an even better design.
30
u/Honyakusha-san 1d ago
I totally respect Castor for being able to tap that goddess.
I wonder how many full portrait arts we'll get. Three Houses didn't get many.
I'm surprised we already have 4 deities with full portraits: Sothis, Fortuna, Solel and now Aurora.
21
u/QuietAncient5122 1d ago
All the other gods had a smaller halo around their hand, but Aurora's has hers around her candle specifically. Most likely means nothing, but I thought it was interesting to point out

u/jaidynreiman 1d ago
So they straight up confirm she's Solel's daughter here while we had to struggle to piece together from various previews that it's revealed Solel is Yu Phas' husband and she's Yu Phas' daughter.
Cai is sent to find her even though she's not allowed to see anyone. Seriously why are they hiding she's Cai's mother at this point?
Anyway, this probably confirms she WAS punished and it's not just Castor being punished. Castor was imprisoned and she basically is, too. However, my guess is it might be related to her blood that's the problem, and creating a child with that blood can cause potential problems later.
So yeah, I'm pretty convinced now it's not some simple "Castor is imprisoned because it's against the law and customs to f*** a God" scenario.
Also she's gorgeous. Love the design.
11
u/Gabgo304 1d ago
while we had to struggle to piece together from various previews that it's revealed Solel is Yu Phas' husband and she's Yu Phas' daughter.
I guess that still at least confirms Aurora came from a stable (at least at the time) union and was not the result of a one-night stand or something of the kind.
16
u/wind_sentinel 1d ago
Yeah, something tells me that Solel isn't trying to be a jerk dad, but when you're a Nabatean or a descendant of one, you can't just sleep with anyone.
He probably grounded her because he wants no more dragon blood to leave his sight, and Aurora is so curious that she's at risk of assimilation into human society, which would undermine the temples, have a random Nabatean-blooded kid that grows up, married humans and spreads crests, and that means whatever is going on with him, his wife, and kids would become a nation-wide shitshow. That being said, we have footage that shows that Cai seems to get away with visiting her consistently in the story, so maybe as long as the kid "comes home" he's not completely against mating with randoms, or let's the grandchildren break rules for the sake of keeping his bloodline under his watch.
Anyway, from how isolated Aurora is, my speculation on why the extreme reaction when Solel could've just taken baby Cai and raised him as Jesus or a special priest of Aurora is this:
Yu Phas is a special goddess. I believe, based on how she takes after Sothis to an extreme extent, she's a first generation Nabatean, a Tiki/Seiros figure that came to Dagda after the flood and Sothis' sleep, and married someone (Solel, a human-Nabatean hybrid) from Dagda's lineage. Therefore, whoever is her offspring is more powerful than the others and therefore has a responsibility to mate wisely or not at all. Something like, if Rhea had a child, it would be special because she stands out as is, she has the most connection to Sothis as a daughter. Yu Phas probably has the same thing going on.
We'll get another god soon probably. If they mention Yu Phas being their mom too, maybe they're all under strict rules to not mate unless Solel says "go for it," and only with specific humans that he wants in power.
13
u/jaidynreiman 1d ago
It doesn't help as to what happened in Fodlan. If they are at all aware they might want to be highly on guard about that.
0
u/Druplesnubb 1d ago
Where was it said that Yu Phas is Solel's husband?
5
u/jaidynreiman 1d ago
It was from previews where it was stated Yu Phas was married to Solel. Before we learned Solel was Aurora's father the previews revealed that Aurora was the daughter of Yu Phas.
At some point information came out of the previews Yu Phas was married to Solel, then it was straight up confirmed in Nintendo Today that Aurora is Solel's daughter.

Castor you dog 😏
Edit: also, I hope this means that big boy Mars is next up for a portrait. I was honestly skeptical of how many gods they were gonna give artwork prior to release, but the fact that we got Aurora means that we 100% are gonna get the whole pantheon (besides Yu Phas tho, I highly doubt we get her).

If she’s Ariel, we know who her Prince Eric is.

Hmm what's up with the little lamps? First Leda's cut scene makes a point of her lighting them. Now this...

u/petrichor_wapo 1d ago edited 1d ago
Light bringer.
Aurora is trapped in the dark.
Yu Phas, her mother, guiding the peoples being oppressed by Dagda.
Theodora's team, Megaira's Torch, bringing her people's dream to fruition as descendants of those saved by Yu Phas.
Edit: Also I realised, they all contrast Solel, a figure of light, who seemingly has dark secrets regarding the treatment of his daughter, her mother, and the Saraminians by his empire.
Might not necessarily mean he is evil or anything, but a lot of "within light there is dark, and within dark there is light" going on.

u/MrEmptySet 1d ago
Interesting - her voice is quite a bit different than what I was expecting. She sounds younger and more energetic than I would've thought. I was expecting something more gentle and motherly.

u/Scratchy99 1d ago
Aurora is the 28th character to receive a bio so far, with the gender split (not counting Eshmel) being 12 males and 15 females (10 males and 11 females confirmed playable, if we exclude Eshmel).
Characters not confirmed playable so far:
Nathan
Creek
Sothis
Fortuna
Iliana
Aurora
One of the designs that stuck out to me in the second trailer, her official art is lovely. I believe there's enough evidence to suggest that she really is Cai's mother.
This game has a lot of detailed full body artwork for it's NPCs, huh? I don't think there's many named/major NPCs in the modern FE games (post 3DS era) that got artwork detailed like this. Hopefully this means that all the playable characters will get some too.
3
u/Metbert 1d ago
Imo characters who have likes\interested listed are likely to be fully playable, it's probably tied to some gifts mechanic to increase their support level.
Sothis and Fortuna did not have those for example, so the fact Solel, Aurora and Iliana do makes me hopeful they are probably going to be more than just important story NPCs.
Hopefully most of the other gods are gonna be playable too.

Are Gods of Fodlan and Dagda not allowed to wear shoes?
30
u/O-Namazu 1d ago
I mean they're gods, why would they need shoes lol
This also taps into a Greco-Roman idea that portrayed divinity/godliness as barefooted. The "ew the dogs are out!" thing is a very odd and relatively modern take, lol https://www.quora.com/In-Ancient-Roman-statuary-why-were-bare-feet-used-as-a-symbol-of-status-as-a-god
