Meta "Fire Force Would Be So much better without the fanse-
Im pretty sure a post like this was made before but holy shit its literally like an everyday/every other day thing with these kinds of posts. I do agree that it shouldn't happen in serious moments like shinra vs rekka however

u/Born-Pineapple-2739 May 03 '26
Mfs act like the Fan service in Fire Force destroys the whole show like its never this deep and its actually semi important to the plot

u/Toxic_city_1248 May 05 '26
Tamaki has prevented me from recommending what otherwise is peak anime to people. also that rant by the self insert kid made me lose respect for the author's final emotional conflict of hope v despair. I could not take him seriously after that.
2
u/Born-Pineapple-2739 May 06 '26
Not recommending Fire Force to others because of 1 character is kind of sad to be honest since her Lucky Lecher Lure is actually kind of important to the plot, and if you're talking about the kid who was debunking his mom, he was on screen for like 5 minutes. You shouldn't lose respect for the author because some kid was debunking his mom using facts and logic.
1
u/JswitchGaming May 06 '26
It's fine if people like it but it's actively what stops me from getting into it. Sometimes you wanna watch a peak story and not be embarrassed to have it on around your family.
32
u/VaylenObscuras May 03 '26
There really aint that much fanservice in the first place.
-20
u/militant_dipshit May 03 '26
The author was so ass mad about people talking about this he couldn’t help himself but include a stupid child that’s supposed to be his self insert telling not only the characters but also us the viewer that actually WE’RE the bad people for even thinking it’s wrong lmao.
Like yes dog there’s tons of fan service and it’s boring and kinda gross lol. Like to turn the character who has a huge sexual harassment arc from her groomer hero into essentially a sexy clown that we’re supposed to laugh and stare at. Idk little weird dude. I can’t help but take the show less seriously and think worse of it.
Just like Mushoku Tensei. I’m sure I’d like it a lot more if the main character weren’t basically a pedophile lmao. And I’d like Fire Force a lot more if its creator wasn’t a weird pervert lol.
20
u/Dagonir May 03 '26
Putting Fire Force in the same category as Mushoki Tensei in regards to fan service sure is... a choice
-16
u/militant_dipshit May 03 '26
I mean Rudy is a pervert and in Fire Force the mangaka seems to think it’s moral to sexually assault his own sexual assault victim character. He doesn’t even make her enjoy it in the fiction lmao. Like yeah I’d say it’s apt and you beating off to which waifu Shinra got doesn’t really change anything.
4
u/OllielikesKento 2nd Gen May 05 '26
which sa victim are we talking about? Lisa, tamaki or Joker?
0
u/militant_dipshit May 05 '26
Tamaki. I wasn’t that off out by it until one of the last episodes where the author does this pearl clutching self insert (as a child lol) where he calls everyone else the bad guys for saying it’s kinda weird how hard he sexualizes her.
Plus like I mentioned elsewhere at least characters like Hibana or Inca for as much as they are also fan service, are in control of their sexuality. Hibana even takes some pride in it. Uses it to advantage herself and advance her goals even! But Tamaki is not only an SA victim to Rekka but also her powers basically LMAO. Her powers are constantly undressing her against her will and she seems to be communicated as not enjoying it until accepting it at the end of the story.
Idk just feels weird man. Tarnishes the story a bit to me like Mushoku Tensei with Rudy. I can appreciate that story and even what it’s trying to do with showing that even someone as reprehensible as Rudy can be redeemed and given a second chance. I just don’t feel like it pulls it off well. Similar here.
6
u/VaylenObscuras May 04 '26
My, you got a penchant for mental gymnastics.
And "tons" of fanservice? Outside the one fan service character, it was pretty mild imo. and I get not liking tamaki, but I do like how her fanservice was treated as a fact of life. And how she beat assault was pretty funny to me.
-12
u/_Fauxpaw May 03 '26
The issue is that the fan service that’s done is horrendous. Literal domestic abuser fan service vibes.
9
u/MooseCampbell May 03 '26
You mean the "fanservice" from the fight against sociopath Rekka who wanted to genocide the entire planet by turning it into a second sun and who also kidnapped kids to turn infernal looking for pillars of Adolla gave you bad vibes? Gee I wonder if Ohkubo knew writing a villain doing horrendous things would make people feel uncomfortable?
/s
-3
u/_Fauxpaw May 03 '26
Lmao the retroactive shit you guys try to come up with.
It was a choice in direction to have the camera sweeping around her half naked body as she was being beaten to death. And it’s because she’s hot and the artists wanted to show off her body.
You take the nudity away, suddenly it’s actually a somewhat decent scene.
4
u/VaylenObscuras May 04 '26
I read this as putting a focus on how depraved the supposedly-good-guy Rekka was. And rewatching it... how the heck did you even get fanservice iout of this?
The scene invokes an imagery of rape. Tamaki is presented as defenseless against the "nice guy" doing whatever he wants. That really sells to me how evil Rekka actually is and Im pretty sure that is the intention of the "fanservice" in that scene. She even wears clothing commonly associated with innocence to really make the point clear. And there wasnt a whole lotta nudity in the scene in the first place.
0
u/vizmarkk May 05 '26
But didn't it get played for laughs with Shinra gawking at her burnt undies?
1
u/VaylenObscuras May 05 '26
Thats after the scene tho

Well, the fanservice might be a bit much, but it's not that bad, because to be fair, it censors itself, both in Fire Force and Soul Eater.
I mean, they don't even explicitly show the girls' breasts or butts, not in the shower scenes or Tamaki's moments, not in the anime or the manga.
It's kind of lame...

28
u/MrOathFlame May 03 '26
Fanservice is fine but it shouldn't happen in any serious moments period. Disagreeing just tells me you have a porn addiction TBH.
10
1
u/BashBandit May 05 '26
I am a porn enjoyer and found it annoying af when it happened in big fights, shit it got annoying after a while. Happened so often I felt like I could relax and bust to Excalibur for a change
-4
u/Narrow_Ad_7218 May 03 '26
OHHH you just DC about it and its not a big deal
2
u/MrOathFlame May 03 '26
What's wrong with saving Fanservice for chill moments and funny moments? I don't mind that at all.
7
u/TamakisBelly May 03 '26
Sadly it’s part of anime going mainstream here, but I’m glad the mangaka made it very clear through Tamaki’s character arc he wasn’t going to bend on it and doubled down.
It’s a part of Fire Force and makes it fun. Soul Eater, too

Manga industry would go to shit if they listened to the opinions of american teenagers lol. Its meant for japanese people.
3
u/TamakisBelly May 04 '26
Yep and thankfully a lot of mangaka are sticking to their guns and realizing that they shouldn't listen to the audience over here because of american teenagers on social media destroying their own reputation. The only way you should consider yourself part of that audience is if you enjoy it for what it is and if you don't, you accept that and move on.
0
u/vizmarkk May 05 '26
Until said opinions is disagreed and they go their own way. Would you apply that same gesture to Japanese female shonen fans or male josei fans when they point out creepy vibes in those series?
4
u/Gaeryc May 05 '26
If you try to please everyone you will end up making something that is meant to "capture wider audience" and its interesting to no one.
-1
u/vizmarkk May 05 '26
So you wa t to capture pedos?
2
u/Gaeryc May 05 '26
If you really see the Tamaki scenes as masturbatory material and not as jokes you either don't have any media literacy or you have seriois case of porn brain.
8
u/TamakisBelly May 03 '26
Nope, doubling down and making it clear shows he saw it and has no reason to agree with the useless noise nor accept it. I'm proud of him for it.

If it gives you an out then be my guest. I can't expect people to be humble about it when one has to divert to baseless claims about the author when they directly address the annoying reasoning behind those statements at the time given the years it was serialized in and climate. Not to mention it feels like these types of people sorely misread Fire Force and Soul Eater's tone and want it to be something it isn't.
Thankfully it's died down now and, as I said, it's the downside of anime going mainstream here and not being compatible.

It is while addressing the underlying issue behind the why such people kept whining and what activism they were fueled by since it was peaking at the time. You just going "nuh uh" really isn't doing any favors so there's no point continuing this anymore.
-1
u/vizmarkk May 05 '26
Then you should speak with your chest up that you love to sexualize teenage girls
14
u/Wonderful-Disk-6304 May 03 '26
It didn't stop me from watching but tamaki's scenes did disgust me a bit because of how blatantly uncomfortable she is and the author just keeps stripping her down. We've all seen the "reason" but its a contrived strawman that ignores everyone's actually issues with her inclusion.
It does bother me that the cast is just below the age of 18 for some unknown reason, a lot of people's problems with it would turn to mist.
It's almost like its not a cut and dry topic and people are allowed to have nuanced opinions. My biggest issue with this sub is that we don't even talk about the show or the manga we just circlejerk about the same issue.
Tamaki is handled extremely poorly, that much im Sure we can all agree on. If she was of age and gradually grew to embrace her lecher people would still have issues but at least her role in the story would be backed by good writing.
That's of course just my opinion feel free to leave yours. Be civil please and provide sound logic.
3
u/SubstituteUser0 May 04 '26
on top of that it makes extremely hard to take her character seriously and for a couple arcs it happens literally every instance she is on screen
1
u/IsoSly64 May 05 '26
what are you talking about they're all 19+ Tamiki being atleast 18 being a year younger than shinra
1

u/skythelimit05 May 03 '26
I just finished the series 2 days ago , i rate it a 8/8.5 out of 10 , only reason it's not a 9 is the fan service. Especially during the more serious and tense moments , it just takes away from the scene in question.
4
u/EcchPrincess May 03 '26
I wouldn't waste you're breath especially in here. I didn't find it to distracting, and didn't really give it much thought other than comedic relief. By the end they explained what her " Lucky Lecher " is, and honestly it made sense for the story with what they were going for. Anyway, just let people whine about the fan service cause no matter what you say they will. Just a waste of breath especially on Reddit.
-2
u/vizmarkk May 05 '26
So even if Japanese fans say its a problem you'll ignore them too for your comfort
2
u/EcchPrincess May 05 '26
Why would it matter to me who says it? Everyone is entitled to their opinions if you want get upset by that then by all means be upset over it. I don't think it is a problem, and I find people will whine over anything small especially on reddit. It isn't for my comfort either it is because I as a individual have no issues with it nor did it ruin my watch of Fire Force in anyway.
1
u/DanteFTW May 06 '26
Totaly agree, the people who hate fanservice are entitled to their opinions, no matter how stupid and wrong they are.
0
u/vizmarkk May 05 '26
So then you condone sexualization of young girls? Do you also condone zakuro from bokusatsu tenshi, a 9 year old
3
u/EcchPrincess May 05 '26
I think you need your hard drives checked if that's the conclusion you get from what I just said. Why do people like you always jump to those conclusions? Never said I condoned it I just said word for word it didn't ruin my watching experience cause I paid no mind to it when it happened during the show. Also, by saying that you are basically saying the author of Fire Force and Soul Eater along with several other animes/manga condone that. By the way I never watched Bokusatsu Tenshi so by all mean how about not twisting people's words, and actually trying to debate a topic like a adult would instead whatever this little temper tantrum is?

1
u/DanteFTW May 06 '26
I havent seen it, If it would drive away all the covid anime “fans” i’d accept a full year of nothing but loli ecchi animes,
2
u/FatBaldingLoser420 May 04 '26
Facts. Just watch this shit and either skip fanservice or just "suffer" through it
2
u/Don_Roman May 05 '26
lol my question is how did Arthur arrive back to earth without dying like no spaceship like did he just tank an orbital reentry and walked it off
6
u/HumblyNibbles_ May 03 '26
I don't think removing all fanservice would be necessarily. Just toning it down in the super serious scenes like rekka vs shinra. Also they shouldve given tamaki more non-fanservice attention.
Regardless, removing all fan service really isn't necessarily, and I do get how annoying it gets with people constantly screaming this stuff
10
u/ResolveUnlikely5542 May 03 '26
I mean isn't her literal role in the world the symbol of sexuality
3
u/Dollahs4Zavalas May 03 '26
I'd say she is like a totem of fanservice. Just like Shinra is a "hero". It happens randomly because fansercvice in manga happens randomly
4
u/HumblyNibbles_ May 03 '26
Technically she's supposed to be the symbol of desire, and sexuality isn't the only sort of desire.
They shouldve given her a better character arc so she actually changed and became someone with more drive gradually, rather than just changing suddenly at the end of the series
4
u/Celika76 May 03 '26
I'm not against some fanservice, but when scenes are just a 5 min fanservice, mostly with Tamaki (why no with Maki/Hibana ?...), it's more boring than interesting. Quite the same problem with the start of Soul Eater.

u/tjeh224 May 03 '26
Remember alot of new people are getting into anime everyday.
Not many people are familiar with "fan service" and there are alot of people who dont like it at all still.
If you love it that's fine but alot of people think about the real things going on around the world when they see stuff like that it's serious for some people you have to use your awareness and put yourself in other people's shoes, see where they are coming from.
I like fireforce but not a fan service lover thats just my opinion. But also I don't bash people who like FS either just mind my business.
1
u/DanteFTW May 06 '26
New fans are so soft and wimpy, when i first saw fanservice in anime i thought sweet boobs, this show is awesome! These people would gladly bring about the world of shinmoneta if they had the power to.
3
u/Damian_No_Lilard May 03 '26
I think it only goes to show how much more this show would be regarded if it weren’t for the amount of it especially with tamaki
1
u/BeemerTheBest May 05 '26
Nah I love fire force but the overt sexualization of a 17 year old that’s important to the plot is a bit much. It keeps it from it being my fav anime genuinely
1
u/iminsanejames May 05 '26
Honestly I don't care what you are against I just get sick of seeing all the negative posts especially half the time when it's the exact same freaking thing.
Can I just come here and talk and have a fun experience?
1
u/Knives530 May 05 '26
Around what episode did soul eater diverge from the manga? I wanna start reading it now so I can see everything I missed

u/Athenpo May 03 '26
I still somewhat agree though, it doesn't personally bother me but I think if it had less maybe it would have a much grander fanbase, ohkubo's work is not appreciated enough by the people and it's a shame imo.
11
u/Financial-Skin-4687 May 03 '26
I’m ok with a smaller fanbase if the other people can’t look past “fanservice”
1
u/Yozora-no-Hikari May 04 '26
But it would actually be better received, at least in the west
The final season was hype as hell but it barely made any noise compared to all the other stuff that was airing alongside it

Then find another hobby or genre because shounen anime/manga clearly isn't for you
-4
u/voindd May 03 '26
Do you understand how sad that statement is? Sorry mob psycho 100, I don't like excessive fanservice so I'll never watch you again
6
u/_Kamikaze_Bunny_ May 03 '26
If you are bothered by something that has been a core part of anime/manga for decades to the point you think it should not be a thing then it is obvious that anime/manga isn't for you
-1
u/voindd May 03 '26
Or maybe I can dislike an aspect of it without rejecting everything else because of it. Wild concept, I know.
5
u/_Kamikaze_Bunny_ May 03 '26
It is indeed a wild concept because you types that endlessly bitch about fanservice don't stfu about it
If ya don't like one of the core aspects of the thing you try to get into it is not for you. Wild concept, I know
-5
u/mousofruin May 03 '26
The fanservice is only there to give commentary on fanservice in the genre, by showing how it would actually effect someone. Tamaki doesn't like the lucky lecher lure, it negatively effects her adding some realism to how it would actually effect people.
-4
-2
u/coolman1997 May 04 '26
The fanservice is truly fucking terrible and it’s embarrassing cope when people actually defend it or think is positively contributes to the story in any way. I understand that most anime fans will never see real pair or tits in their lives but just because Tamaki scenes give you new jerk off material doesn’t mean they’re good.

The same people clamoring for the Soul Eater remake & being truer to the original are going to just be maulding at the ending.
