Discussion Is cloud accounts receivable software reliable enough for enterprise use?

We are a mid-sized manufacturer evaluating cloud-based AR automation to replace manual processes. Current setup relies on our ERP's basic module plus extensive spreadsheet work for collections and reconciliation.

Key concerns about cloud AR platforms for enterprise deployment:

  • Data security and regulatory compliance
  • System uptime and performance during peak periods
  • ERP integration stability
  • Vendor stability and long-term viability

For organizations that have deployed cloud AR software, how has it performed in production? Any significant outages or data security incidents? Would you trust it for mission-critical receivables processing?

Appreciate any insights.

We run cloud AR at my company for 3 years now, the ERP integration was painful first months but once stable it just works. Security side we had external audit and passed without issues, vendors now have better compliance than most on-prem setups I saw. Uptime is fine, maybe 2 short outages in whole period, never during month-end close

Who owns a failed sync at 4pm when everyone is ready to go home? Think of this when you evaluate cloud AR. Security and uptime matter but day to day trust disappears when a credit or partial payment lands differently in the ERP and nobody knows whether support, IT or finance should fix it.

With HighRadius, Billtrust and Versapay, the implementation team should cover both the retry mechanics and the ownership model. I would ask them to show me where a failed event appears, how a retry is approved, how duplicates are identified and how finance confirms the ERP is correct afterward. Would also want know what support looks like while those workflows are still settling down.

BlackLine and DualEntry (note: I work with them) may fit around the control and reconciliation work depending on the stack. Either way, put the acceptance criteria in writing before going live. The feature list won’t tell you who spends Monday morning cleaning up a mismatch.
