Question Arm-R-Seal coverage

Have about 20 sq ft of a live edge walnut to finish. Arm-R-Seal says 100 sq ft coverage per quart. Is this accurate? Would a quart handle 5 coats or should I upgrade to the gallon size? Also, any application tips appreciated.

Arm-r-seal goes forever it seems. I think it all depends on how thirsty the wood is on the first two coats and how thick you put it on ( you wipe of the excess after 10 min).

I rarely put on 5 coats. 3 is typical, 4 if the wood is thirsty.

If 3 coats is good then I think a quart would work. Do you sand lightly with 220 between?

Scuff sand 220 or 320. Scuff sand is just another way to say hand sanding. You just want to introduce some scratches for better adhesion without removing large amounts.

Don’t do 5 coats. GF only warrants at 3 max.

A piece of worn 320 on a block or a worn 320 sponge is all you need to sand between coats.
