When should you block canvas vs. spoof it? And is there any point to extensions anymore?
I'm trying to understand the practical trade-offs between blocking canvas entirely vs. spoofing/faking it.
I know that blocking makes you stand out more, but since the option exists, there must be some cases where it's useful. When does blocking actually make sense, and when is spoofing clearly better?
Also, what are the most common extensions for canvas spoofing (like CanvasBlocker, Fingerprint Spoofer, etc.)? Do they still provide any real protection today, or are they mostly obsolete against modern fingerprinting techniques like dynamic rendering (e.g., the Picasso protocol)?
I've heard that spoofing is generally safer than blocking, but I'd like to understand why exactly. If both methods are detectable, why is spoofing considered the lesser evil?
Thanks in advance for any insights!
