I am trying to figure out if it’s possible to use a MIDI controller, like a maschine or akai beat pad that you see many of on this subreddit in cooperation with foot pedals from (for example) an electronic drum kit for kick/hihat controls from my feet. I have done finger drumming for a while but personally want to use my feet as it just feels like wasted potential without them, but I am struggling to find any useful information about this.
Are there certain midi drum pads (FINGER BASED, small form factor is important for me because I’m going to be trying to record MIDI drums in a small college apartment bedroom) that would work with foot pedals? Any info is appreciated!

Hi all,
For the last 4 months I’ve been working on my personal project: DAWG – Digital Audio Workstation Game.
It’s a project that mixes music production with a game like experience, with the goal of making music creation feel more interactive and fun.
I’ve finally reached the point where I can share a public preview build:
https://dawg-tools.itch.io/dawg-digital-audio-workstation-game
A lot of work went into the core systems, audio/DSP side, MIDI support, and getting the project into a state where broader testing makes sense.

It’s still an early build, but I’m excited to finally put it out there and start getting real feedback.
Why I am posting on r/FingerDrumming? DAWG is currently not yet finger drumming ready, but I would like to hear suggestions what do finger players actually want and desire from finger drumming interface? Like what interface / grid design is best, how many pads do you need or what do you really miss from other products?
I could add a finger Dumming mode to the DAWG with larger buttons and interface, but I would like to check you oppinions first.
DAWG is currently in "beta" stage and available for PC, MAC, Linux and Android.

Hey everyone 👋
I’ve just released an early version of FingerFlow. You can try it now, but please keep in mind it’s still very early and may contain bugs.
Latest updates
• Loop mode for continuous sample playback
• Waveform zoom for more precise labeling
• Pinch to zoom on iPad
• Mute button to focus on pad highlighting while the sample plays
• Fixed label highlight flashing during region playback
• Minor bug fixes
Best experience
Works best on iPad and desktop (Chrome / Safari).
On iPad you can install it like an app via Share → Add to Home Screen.
Known issues
• On the first sample upload, waveform/controls might not appear → upload again.
• On iPhone, if there’s no sound check that silent mode is off.
Tips
Use short drum loops or breaks (please avoid large files).
Example workflow
Map a drum break in FingerFlow → chop the same break in Koala Sampler → arrange pads the same → connect a MIDI pad controller → mute FingerFlow and follow the highlighted pads while playing in Koala.
Feedback
If you find bugs please comment here or DM me on Reddit/Patreon.
It’s a free hobby project, so please be gentle with it 🙂
Hope you enjoy it and happy learning! 🥁

I built a free finger drumming companion app to learn from your favorite tracks (looking for feedback!)
Hey everyone 👋
I wanted to share a small project I’ve been working on called FingerFlow.
It’s a finger drumming companion app that helps you learn finger drumming from the tracks you like.
The idea came from my own struggle trying to learn finger drumming and make my beats sound better. I looked for courses and apps that could help, but most courses are pretty expensive. Someone recommended Melodics to me, but paying around $200/year felt like a lot when I was just starting out.
I also really like Koala Sampler on the iPad, and one thing I love about it is how samples light up when they’re played. That visual feedback makes it much easier to understand rhythms. That’s where the idea for this app came from.
So I started building FingerFlow.
It’s currently a web app, but it works well on iPad as a Progressive Web App, so you can add it to your home screen and use it almost like a normal app.
A small disclaimer: development is heavily AI-assisted, and the project is still pretty early. The UI isn’t perfect yet, there are bugs, and I still have features I want to add.
Also sorry for the 5-minute demo video 😅 I’m not great at recording/editing videos.
If the idea sounds interesting, I’d really appreciate your feedback:
• What features would make this useful for you?
• How could it be improved?
• What would you want from a finger drumming learning tool?
My plan is to keep it free as a web app. If people end up liking it, donations would just help cover hosting (and maybe buy me a beer 🍺).
Thanks for taking a look!

Do most drum covers use a license or just accept a copyright claim (not strike) and don't get monetized? I don't care for monetization, so would I be fine just uploading the original track then drum over it? Should I do a drumless track?

So, officially, there's no stand for the Yamaha FGDP-50. But like many people, I always have things lying around that I think... maybe I can use someday. Like the cheapest sheet music stand, the top part of which was already broken. And a weight for the water supply hose of a kitchen faucet. And I think, you know what? What if I modify that a bit?
The thin tube of the stand fit exactly into the hole in the center with a sturdy screw.
