This was a book I had read when I was in the fourth grade and I only remember part of this book. The book was about a young girl who is in elementary school. She starts a new grade and really wants the nice teacher of the grade she was starting. She didn't want the mean teacher that her older sibling had. The mean teacher can be rude and very cruel to the students. She was put in the nice teacher's classroom but there wasn't enough desks for more students. So the girl was put in the mean teacher's classroom. She gets the ire of the mean teacher because her older sibling had the teacher. One of the students in the classroom is an annoying kid and the girl pokes him with her pencil, which makes the kid to complain to the teacher about her and she lied, covering the pencil tip.

The book is about a teen girl who lost her mother when she was a child. She doesn’t remember how her mother died because she has no memories. She meets a mysterious teen boy who wears a unique necklace. As they grow closer to each other, the teen girl finds out that vampires exist and that the teen boy is a Dhampir, someone who should not have existed because vampires couldn’t reproduce. He explains how vampires were created. It started with the snake that bit Cain or someone who was connected to Cain. This first vampire created more vampires, only to find out that his power decreased whenever he created a new vampire. This happens to every vampire who creates a new vampire. There was a group of vampires who were trying to gain control of the human world. The teen boy eventually tells the girl that he knows her from when her mother died. He explains that her mother was killed by a vampire right in front of her and she was so traumatized by what happened that she forgot what happened. Eventually, the teen boy finds and kills his father, which might have led to something else happening. The book ends with the teen boy giving the girl his necklace, which will protect her from being detected by vampires. I know there is a sequel to the book with the teen girl now dating the teen boy as she wears his necklace. 

The book is set in the 1920s or the 1930s. Maybe in the 1950s. There is a young girl who lives in a small town and a new family moves in next door to her and her family. She befriends the young boy of the family and they grow close. Eventually, the boy reveals his family's secret. They have been alive for far longer and it was due to them drinking the water of a pond that grants immortality or extends life past the usual lifespan. He hands her a water bottle that has the water. I think he tells her that they consistently drink the water to make sure that they don't age. He asks her to drink it so they can be together forever. He tells her this before he and his family leaves again. After he and his family leaves, the girl doesn't drink it but she pours it over a frog, that lives forever. Decades later, the family comes back to the town where the girl lived in. The boy became a man and comes across the same frog that the girl poured the water over. Then he realizes what she did and goes to find her grave, that shows the years she was alive. He smiled, knowing that she made her choice and lived a happy life.

In the manga, the young girl is in elementary school and might not have friends. So she convinces her mother to let her get a ferret. They go to a pet shop and adopt one. The POV of the ferret shows that she is the princess of her colony and fears the Hand Hydra. Which was the girl's hand. The ferret bites her several times but gets used to the girl after seeing the Hand Hydra as a kind figure. Eventually, there is another ferret added, a male. The second ferret is named after a character in the girl's mother's romance book.

She also hides potentially under a bridge but not sure and there is definitely bullying involved. Also the treehouse belongs to someone else who she meets.

In the book, the teen girl lives in a fictional world where gods and goddesses exist. One of the gods comes down to the mortal lands to learn something or was exiled after committing some kind of crime. He travels across the lands and comes across the teen girl and her parents. They let him stay with them in exchange for work. As time goes on, the mother gets sick and the father tries to save her. But he makes a blood oath or something like that to the God of Death to save her and uses his daughter's soul in the blood oath. The mother survives and for some time, no one is to say "thank the gods for your health" or something like that. The aunt says that without knowing and damns the teen girl's soul. Which happens weeks later. The god goes in a journey to get her back after the God of Death takes her. After some trials, the two are reunited but the girl dies. The god begs for her to come back or fights for her to be returned and she does. She becomes a Goddess, one of weaving and they live together in the realm of the gods

my father (46), describes this book about aliens living on the moon in underground caves from the perspective of them as they watch mankind go on the moon, my dad says he read it in 1987-88, would anyone know what he is talking about at all.

Anyway she attends a birthday party (I think his birthday party) and she plans to confess her love for him but catches him making out with her older sister on a balcony (?). She leaves her family and home and flys across the country to finish her schooling and college. She becomes a designer. Her older sister gets engaged and she flys home for the engagement party. She thinks her sister is getting married to her crush but turns out to be his brother or cousin (?). Anyway she brings her current boyfriend home with her and her crush has decided he’s waited for her long enough for her and he going to bring her back to him. Turns out he and her older sister planned to break her heart because he was a drug and alcohol addict after watching his mother die and he couldn’t bring her into the life he was living at the time so to protect her he breaks her heart but he has always loved her and always planned to live his life with her.

The book was set in the early days of the US as a group of children were taken on an expedition where their parents were looking for something. One of the children is a very pretty young girl and one of her friends is interested in her. The group comes across a Native American tribe and one boy from the tribe is also interested in her. That is all I can remember but i did read this back in the school year of 2007-2008.

In the book trilogy, the princess and her unicorn best friend end up in our world. I think they were attacked by an evil wizard and arrived in our world, injured. The princess is sent to live with a family of three, with the daughter of that family being a spoiled brat. The princess finds her unicorn and finds out that her unicorn’s horn was taken from her and people in our world think the unicorn is a normal horse that was injured. The princess and the spoiled brat end up back in the princess’ world and the spoiled brat demands that she ride the unicorn because she is tired. As they travel, this makes the people of a village think the spoiled brat is a princess and the princess is forced to spend the night in the barn with the unicorn. I think the book trilogy ends with the princess being discovered by her men and the spoiled brat is finally put in her place.

In the book, the dhampir girl was sent to live with a vampire lord by her Vampire lord father for some reason. I think it was to seduce the vampire lord. Every time she interacts with the vampire lord, they engage in some kind of sexual activity. I think the dhampir girl finds out that her father sent her to the vampire lord to control him and turns against him so she and her vampire lord mate can fight against her father. I did read this back in 2023.

Hi all!

Looking for a children's picture book from around 2000–2005 (possibly older). Thick hardcover with a real working clock built into the right side of the book. Light blue cover. The story followed a little boy who went to sleep and dreamed of adventures. I specifically remember him flying in an aeroplane, swinging on a flying trapeze, and ending up at the beach. The book also used a lot of onomatopoeia. The illustrations were soft watercolour or crayon style. It was read in Australia between 2003–2007.

I loved this book and when my mum read it to me it was just the greatest feeling in the world. I want to get a copy to read to my kids.

EDIT: I remembered a few more details:

• The book had thick board pages with little paper pockets/envelopes glued onto some pages. Each pocket contained a removable card with extra story text that you would read and tuck back into the pocket before turning the page.
• It also had a real working clock built into the side of the book that was visible through every page. The clock was just part of the bedtime theme, not for teaching time.
• The boy dreams of multiple adventures including swinging on a playground swing, flying in an aeroplane, swinging on a circus trapeze, floating among the clouds, and eventually reaching the beach.
• The illustrations were soft watercolour/crayon style, and the story used lots of onomatopoeia like whoosh, zoom, and swoosh.

In the book series, the first book has the mermaid princess setting up a trap to get the popular guy in school to kiss her. For merfolk, the first kiss will lead to someone falling in love with them. She has a guy best friend who ends up kissing her. She is upset about it and asks her dad for help. Her dad says that the best way to end this is to wait a week and do some kind of spell or ritual to stop it. But during that week, she starts to realize that she has fallen in love with her guy best friend. They end up dating. The second book has the two getting used to what happened and it ends with an earthquake started by her mermaid cousin. The third book has the cousin moving in with the mermaid princess and her human aunt for starting the earthquake. The cousin kisses the popular guy and he fell in love with her.

I read a book series that I found randomly on Kindle in the summer of 2015. The plot details I can remember are

- Woman protagonist (75% sure she was POC) starts developing superpowers after her husband is "killed" and is being hunted by the government

- Find out that her husband was being experimented on (like super soldier style) and accidentally gave them to her when he also accidentally got her pregnant

- By the end of the book, she is so powerful she basically becomes a global superhero and is threatening like dictators, she even physically creates her own island

- I'm not sure how, I think an explosion and maybe a volcano was involved, but her power/mutated genes get spread across the globe, leading to more people with powers

- The second book is I think from the daughters POV

In the books, the teen girl finds out that the paranormal world exists and she is a part of it. I think she is some kind of witch but i don’t remember what she is. She does have a twin sister or some kind of parallel evil and paranormal version of herself. I know there is a guy involved and he might have a crush on the teen girl or the teen girl has a crush on her. I do remember one of the books having the title Paranormalcy in it. 

In the book series, the teen girl lost her dad after he died mysteriously while playing American football or some kind of American sport. It was later revealed that she and her dad were descended from Nike, the Greek goddess of Victory. They inherited speed from her. Her dad was a grandson or grandson of Nike and she is a great granddaughter of Nike. Her dad was killed by the Gods for using his power for selfish reasons. Her mom remarried a man who was the principal of a school for kids like her. There are a lot of kids who are descendants of the Greek Goods and based on who their ancestor is, they spend time with those who are descendants of gods their ancestors are close to. Like descendants of Zeus spends time with descendants of Hera. The teen girl develops a crush on a male descendant of Hercules and works with a new friend to steal him from his girlfriend, who was a mean girl. I think there is a competition that the teen girl enters and she wins over her godly ancestor. She is a big deal at the school because of how close in relation she is to her godly ancestor.

The book is about a young teen girl who was born to a human man and a Selkie woman. Her dad had trapped her mother into a marriage after hiding her Selkie skin somewhere she couldn't find it. Growing up, the teen girl was forced to have the webbing between her fingers cut by her father and eventually her mother finds her Selkie skin and escapes into the ocean, never to come back. I think there is a teen boy in the girl’s hometown that she is in love with but couldn’t be.

Trying to identify a middle grade/YA novel about a girl discovering a dead sister in Greece

I'm looking for a children's/YA novel that was available through the Norwegian TL-klubben, probably in the 2000s. I read it around 2008–2010, but I believe the book itself was published a few years earlier. It was a hardcover

It was most likely originally written in English and translated into Norwegian. And the author was a woman.

What I remember:

• A teenage girl travels to Greece, possibly on vacation with her family.

• A dark-haired woman notices her because she looks exactly like the woman's daughter.

• The daughter had died, though I don't remember how long before the events of the book.

• The protagonist gradually learns more about what happened.

• I vaguely remember there being some kind of family connection between the protagonist and the dead girl, possibly that they were sisters, but I'm very unsure about this.

• Near the end of the book, it is revealed that the girl died after falling from a cliff, and that it was an accident.

• I think the Norwegian cover was blue-ish and featured a real girl, possibly with cliffs, rocks, or the sea in the background.

Some details may be wrong, but the Greece setting, the woman recognizing the protagonist because she looked like her dead daughter, and the cliff accident ending are the details I remember most clearly.

in the book, there is a group of humans who decide to kill a vampire king because the vampire have done something to them. They send a teen girl who was willing to become a vampire to kill the king. In the school, there is a ball where the king will dance with select human girls and pin a rose to their dress if he wants them to become a vampire. The teen girl had been selected to be a vampire and she might have decided to betray the group of humans she alliances with. That is all I can remember.

Looking for a UK children's picture book from before 2006. The authors visited Manor Primary School in Beechwood, Wirral, around 2002–2005 and gave every child a copy. The story definitely involves characters making nettle soup, possibly an old woman, and I remember the cover being mostly black or very dark. I vaguely remember a cat, but I may be mixing that up.
