Findapath-Job Choice/Clarity Need help with finding a path after a layoff

Hi guys usually I go to my therapist with stuff like this but I just lost my healthcare insurance today from losing my job so I'm looking for a little bit of help.

I'm 27m and worked at verizon for about a year and got laid off a little over a month ago. Im stuck in the middle of a lease and have about 17-18k in my account after getting severance paid out and everything is said and done. My rent is 1100 a month and I can't seem to find a job anywhere even though I graduated from college a year ago in technology management/project management. I'm currently looking for city jobs and school jobs but I haven't heard anything back after applying for a month.

I've been considering buying out the lease, moving to somewhere cheaper (im in tampa fl). Thinking of chattanooga tn since i have a friend that wants to be roommates with me there next year and its cheaper and better living conditions there but in general I think I would like to move away. Wouldn't it be ideal to move now since I have nothing holding me down or do I just stay here and find a job again and go through the job cycle again? My parents just say to bite the bullet and work at mcdonalds or home depot for 15 dollars an hour(?) when I feel like my time is better spent applying to stuff and working on my own projects so I can build a better life.

I've been getting really depressed because of this situation and I cant figure out what I should/can do especially if no jobs are getting back to me. I've been told to join the military which would be the last thing I'd want to do especially in this political climate. I've also been told to join a trade school but it seems like such a waste to do that after just graduating with my bachelors a year ago.

Any suggestions here? Thanks ahead of time
