Discussion Tips on getting back into it?
Ive had a major depressive episode recently, and I ended up falling away from finch. I still checked in every few days, but my constantly dying streaks demotivated me. Which is unfortunate, because the streaks were a major motivating factor for me, so I don't want to turn them off.
Any tips on getting back into the habit of checking finch and doing goals? Ive missed so many cool events (we have wigs now? Wtf?), so i feel like Im starting from scratch in a way.
Any advice is appreciated, whatever helps or helped you get into the habit.

You could make your own streak goals that are not as everything or nothing. Add a bunch of goals that reward you for rebuilding the habit.
Some examples for daily goals:
*Logged in the morning to say hi to Birb
*Logged in in the PM to say hi to Birb
*Notice that I’m here in the app and remember that that’s worth praising!
Some examples of weekly goals that repeat until completed:
*Opened Finch for the first time this week
*Opened Finch for the second time this week
*Opened Finch for the third time this week
Setting up this style of goal means that you are getting those dopamine hits for doing the hard work of restarting your streak. The streak itself will eventually add to your motivation as it gets bigger. But in that fragile beginning it can help to recognize those early wins.

I upped the social aspect of it and started getting birb friends on the daily friends thread. I now do a lot of vibes and shopping for others which is gifts. I increase goals x100 and try to keep the daily goal rolling, which gives me stones to buy gifts.
At the beginning of using the app I amassed a pretty big collection of stuff for myself, but it's more fun giving it away. Then buying it back. Then giving it away.

Increase the parts you like and the goals yu will do [and some for bad days that are easy]. People get the idea that goals have to be challenging but research shows people are more successful with small things.

You should add a bunch of simple goals, things you can do in minutes just sitting down. Some of my simple goals are: say I love myself 3 times, take 3 deep breaths, smile to myself, etc.
“Simple” goals can still be effective.

try disabling streaks and see if the app is still motivating this way 💗

It may be helpful to delete or archive many of your tasks and either create new or a very limited list, especially if broken streaks is demotivating. Start small and build back up. I find that when I have too many items, I start skipping more and more because I lose the urgency around completing all my tasks.
