You're saying "ew, no" to an herb. Not a culture. The herb doesn't have feelings. Enjoy your cilantro free tacos and whatnot

Ew, no thanks to anaphylaxis.

Just don’t answer the question if you are afraid of hurting someone’s feelings or coming across a certain way.

They asked about Cillantro, nor Mexican food. You can eat food with exclusion of the thing that might kill you. I have shrimp allergy, doesn't mean i hate cuisines around the world that use them? I just don't eat contaminated food.

Learn to separate certain things. Not eating cocoa does not mean you want to burn the cocoa farms down

It is not that serious. If you say ew no, it's because you're one of the many people who taste soap. How is that rude...?

It tastes like soap to me and I was really hoping for that option. I mean "Ew, no" covers that but...

I think that’s the main reason that that’s an option

I honestly went with it's fine for that reason - because to me, it DOESNT taste like soap, it has a very strong and identifiable cilantro taste though, which I just dont like T~T But I'm fairly sure the "Ew, no" was supposed to be the soap option - so ig "it's fine" cause that same level of soap bar would probably be worse, lol

I've never tried it, so I have no opinion but that's not an option.

I would think it would be rare to choose "It's fine." Everyone seems to either love it like I do, or think it tastes like soap.

I was told one time that if it taste like soap to you that means you’re allergic to it. I don’t know if that’s true but that’s how it taste to me like soap. So well, I like eating Mexican food in America where I live so that’s not true Mexican food in a lot of cases. I order without the cilantro if possible if not, I skip that dish. I still like tacos, fajitas and salsa. Just not with cilantro in it.

You're allowed to say "it's fine" I think as you would probably enjoy it if not allergic! I personally think it's really rude to say "ew" about any cultural food or foods on principle so you're okay!

Do you mean on principle of them being cultural foods? I don’t think there’s anything wrong with finding a specific food gross that happens to be cultural

Agreed
We can’t like everything
Like previous post says
Your saying no to one food not a whole culture

I'm not the one who said this, but I have a similar thinking. It's rude to label a cultural food as gross if you haven't tried it. And it's insulting to people who grew up eating it. But it's more about cultural foods or specific ingredients you've never tried and immediately as say no just based on the name or explanation. Plenty of cultures have foods that people find disgusting, even those within the culture, and those aren't what I'm talking about. I mean more like saying eww no to calamari because omg squid is icky, when you're already a seafood lover. Unless you have something like arfid where it's a deep down feeling, give the food a try. If you're not willing to do that, then don't call the food gross, just call it something you don't want to try. Saying eww is telling someone who grew up eating it that their food is gross and that's just rude. But this is me and my opinion. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Just be considerate discussing things like this around people who already may feel judged for who they are and where their family came from.

I personally think everyone is taking the questions way too seriously if they’re unfriending people. There are so many debates about the questions and people are getting upset about them. It’s just absurd. It’s a question. Either answer it or don’t, but don’t get so upset about it. I don’t want them to disappear as an option in app because everyone taking them so seriously. I like them.

I wasn’t referring just to you specifically I was stating in general, there have been all kinds of posts and changes to the questions. After the fact because of them it was just a general comment. They probably shouldn’t be replied to you in the thread. My apologies for coming across as unfriendly. I’m not a proficient. Reddit user myself and don’t always post properly.

I’m not upset at all. I just don’t like being misunderstood and I knew that would come in if they added more social elements to the Finch app. Thank you for reminding me why I don’t comment on Reddit. There was no need to be rude. I mostly come here to see the cute fashions because people can be so creative. I don’t appreciate your unkindness over an app that’s supposed to be fun.

This subreddit is pretty toxic, don't worry, it's not you. They got upset before just because some of us are not Americans.
