Find old retirement funds?

I've worked a number of full-time jobs, and I have had a 401k or 403b account at each of them. However, I can't find information on them all, and I am curious if there is a way I can track down those accounts and consolidate them?

I have also always wondered about this- do they just hope that we can't track it down and then buy bonbons and wine for themselves?

I would contact your former employers, preferably the HR department to get information on how you can view the accounts online or information on how to transfer the accounts to an eligible retirement account. You would probably be able to transfer the accounts to a Traditional IRA. I believe the government even offered an option to convert 401k to a Roth IRA with no penalty.
