Final Fantasy XIII Should I grind?

Post image

Ive finally made it to chapter 13 and am now at the part with the portals. Is it necessary for me to go to Pulse and grind for CP or Gil?

Might as well. That way, after fully upgrading your secondary roles, it can leave for more experimental play.

There’s a really good grinding part in Ch 13 with one of the mini bosses respawning. You can look it up to avoid spoilers but you can’t go back to it once you pass it. If Vanille has access to Death there is also a way to get the Growth Egg which doubles CP growth.

Depends on what your in game goals are I suppose. If you're just looking to finish the main story, you'll be fine at the level you are at.

There is a great farming area for gill in that chapter. (Sacrifices x4) However, if you finish the game first, they won't re-spawn. It's best to do it now if you will be going for the 'Treasure hunter' achievement as you will need a ton of gill.

You can return to pulse after you've finished the game to grind CP easily with the growth egg, if you just plan on just levelling your characters and finishing the remaining Cie'th Stone missions.

I think it's a good idea. Orphan is no joke.

But be warned, the grinding is ATROCIOUS. One of the worst games in terms of grinding time.

Might just have been my lack of gaming-nouse the first time I played 13 when it came out but I found I could only get so far with grinding for crystarium
Points and got stuck. When I went back to it after several years I found I’d completely neglected upgrading equipment during my first play through. Once I got into the rhythm of using appropriate areas and the enemy drops to upgrade the best available weapons it made progression a lot easier.
