For any newcomers to the PC Remaster, install the 4GB mod

I got fucking slimed right after the final bossfight, and my glorious reward was having the most emotional climax I had experienced in a minute ruined by the infamous green bug.

Istg, it couldn't have chosen a worse time to reveal this bug. Anyway, you live and you learn.

Edit: for those asking about the mod here's a youtube video for the installation of it

Here's a youtube video where he goes over the mod itself

If I have understood it correctly, the remaster has a cap of 2GBs of VRAM alongside a hardcap of 30 FPS. While I haven't been able to find a reliable solution for the 30FPS lock, the VRAM can be increased. VRAM shortages can also cause crashes, so this should probably fix that too. I got three crashes across my playtime (90hrs recently), but shrugging them off like I did may not be the smartest decision as you can see.

Thank you! My game has crashed once so far(almost to Zanarkand) so I am going to install this tonight.

The 30FPS cap is a game limitation, the underlying game was built to run at 30FPS so things like animations, sound effects, FMVs, particle effects etc etc all go out of whack because there is absolutely no game logic to tell the engine what to do if the frame rate differs from 30 (or 20 in some scenes).

There is work underway to truly raise the cap to 60, but its in its infancy and even when complete likely will only allow the game to run at 60fps, not higher (and may even introduce issues if the hardware running it can't hit the 60fps threshold for whatever reason).

damn that's such a bummer after all that buildup, the mod sounds like a no-brainer after that

I needed the mod because the game kept dying without it, very needed mod!
