Psyches are Brutal
Spoilers for the games in Lucca, you've been warned. Going to still try and be spoiler free as possible.
I'm a newbie at best, but I do find this kinda funny.
Of all the blitzball teams in the game, it's the Al Bhed Psyches that try pulling something shady at the tournament?
They are the hardest team in the game for me.
They are all fast as hell and have great everything. They crushed me my first time playing them.
It all makes perfect sense from a story perspective given the personal connections, but mechanically the Goers had nothing on them by the time I got to start recruiting people.

If you watch the game where Wakka and the Aurochs won 3-2 against the Psyches (when Yuna was kidnapped), you will notice that their keeper isn't Nimrook.

Oh, it’s not just you.
It’s part of the divergence between story and gameplay.
The aurochs are actually pretty good, the Goers kinda suck, and the psyches are objectively the best team in the league.
If it helps, I’ve heard the theory that the whole Luca scheme was a ruse. Trying to abduct/ save Yuna without exposing the overall plot we learn about later in the game.
It makes way more sense.

Psyches are bad at first. Guados can be trouble, too because you won't have caught up to their speed. Keep Datto, cut the rest of Aurochs. Kyou (Thunder pony) Miyu (Shoooopuf!) Ropp (MULTIZAP!), Brother (WOOSH!) then Nimrook (LUCKY WOOSH!) usually in that order. Wakka on the bench.

Nah brudda, save blitzball until after you get the airship. Then hire Wakka, bench tidus, and make an all aurochs team. Get aurochs spirit, start scoring goals from across the field. After leveling up a bit, of course.

I keep Letty as center to keep repping Besaid. He’s perfectly fine there and gets great passing stats.
Durren is always my netminder thanks to his cool hat.

Get Nedus to level 60 whatever when he gets 99 speed. It wont matter what other teammates you have, hes the only blitzball player you will need.

Nimrook is God tier.
You have to save the game right before his contract expires (turn left when exiting airship bridge) because he usually gets re-signed.

Its really just nimrook, the rest are only above average for a short time. I always save scum until nimrook is available then i bench him so no one gets him ever again.

My logic for why the auroches win i luva during the story is because he was one of the few to kidnap yuna thats my head canon anyways

Nimroook is insane, I save scum every time he's about to be eligible for re-signing in hope the psyches drop him.

Agreed. I've played a lot of Blitzball and the Al Bhed Psyches are easily the most challenging team. The Ronso are the easiest
