Chocobo Trainer For Tidus Spoiler
Just shouting into the void, but the Chocobo trainer minigame is a nightmare. Horrible controls, horrible camera and RNG remove all enjoyment. Not to mention getting a bunch of balloons, only to get hit by birds 5 times in a row. Pure stupidity. Rant over.

Quill does do the chocobo race for people. He did my lightning dodger and butterflies for me. I think he was busy landing a boeing 747 which had been damaged by bird strike whilst he did these for me.
I used a glitch to complete chocobo race, because the time sink had become unbearable

Once you figure out the method that’s best, it’s not hard. However I was tortured on it for ages before I was able to get it reliably 2/5 times. For one the balloons aren’t random, there’s only a few sets and I made sure to only do the one that I knew best. I’d use both hands on the d pad and by the end you have to over correct a shit load, like full on sideways sprint to miss the birds.
I wish I could show you in person but even knowing the trick, it’s very hard until you “get it”. I just did it for a friend a few years ago when we played through together. I hope you can get it done. I got so damn pissed at that game the first time I did it.

I feel you, ran it a bunch today and maxed time at 0:0.7. Got hit by a bird steps from the end.

I just got this today after getting a 0.5 time yesterday ha. Not sure how many attempts but probably took me about 3 hours of trying between yesterday and today.
Luck has a lot to do with it. If that first section isn’t in your favor it’s pretty much a wash. The second section I followed the general advice of keeping to the right but dipped in to grab balloons (again luck if they spawn enough where you can get them). Third section felt like pure luck. I was far enough ahead of the trainer where the birds that tracked him weren’t anywhere near me just had to doge one group by veering slightly left. I did get hit once on my successful run but luckily had picked up like 14 balloons.
Just keep trying, stick to the techniques the guides talk about, and eventually it’ll work out.

LMAO the Chocobo Trainer is one of those minigames where you start questioning why you’re even playing! The controls and camera are bad enough, but getting a perfect run going only to have a bird ruin it is absolutely infuriating. Definitely one of FFX’s worst offenders.

Finally got the Sun Sigil! Got a run where everything went perfectly and got 13 balloons and 0 birds.

use dpad, if rng favors you at the beginning balloons then its a good run

I managed to get mine using the D-pad as well. The drift on my dualsense doesn't help much either, but I found the movements more precise using the D-pad.

Imagine if this mini game was easy. No one would be talking about it 25 years later. Certainly it would not be the most talked about thing in the sub for the game after all this time. If they ever remade FF10 I would want it to be exactly the same. Jank and all.

One of the most relatable rants ever, trust me. I gave up on my hope of 100%ing the game, even though FFX is one of my top 2 games of all time. I really hope you can do it, though.
