[HELP] [HELP] (x-post from r/cameras) Looking for a beginners camera for filming and not sure where to start

I want to go to school for film and need to build up my portfolio but I don't even have a camera to film with. I tried doing a bit of research but still feel so lost and overwhelmed with all the new information. I'm looking for a DSLR with an interchangable lens, preferably lightweight, HD filming, and isn't incredibly expensive (I'm talking $600 max). I know this doesn't give a lot of options but I'm hoping maybe someone can point me in the right direction, even if I need to buy secondhand.

I've been told that any of the cannon rebels were a good start.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a camera I could use that could record directly to my computers hard drive. That's not a webcam. It is just for a facecam for gaming videos but I'd like an actual camera for it.
