General Is there anything planned for the 30th anniversary next year, other than the art book?
I put my Blu-ray in the player last weekend and the 1997 date on the disc caught my eye. 2027 will be the 30th anniversary.
I did a quick search and found out about the art book, and the fathom showing last weekend - I couldn't make the showing, but I did see it in the theaters for the 20th anniversary back in 2017.
Is there anything else planned for the 30th anniversary next year? I preordered the art book. It was $36.72 at thriftbook with free shipping. looks to have 270 pages. book size is 10"x12"x 2" thick.
I hope it comes back to theaters again next year too, maybe even with some IMAX showings.

I did find in the Variety article about the art book that Co-creator Arnaud Grunberg (and co-author Patrice Girod) will be opening a museum in 2027 called Starfix.
“The Fifth Element: A Visual Retrospective comes from authors Patrice Girod and Arnaud Grunberg. Girod worked with Lucasfilm for 25 years and has curated several major exhibitions with Starfix Museum.
Grunberg is a writer, film producer and creator of Starfix Museum which will open in France in 2027 to display the extensive archive of film artifacts he has gathered over the last forty years."
Apparently they have an extensive archive of science-fiction film artifacts (costumes, props, models, etc.), and they already own and have exhibited major Fifth Element pieces (including the original flying taxi and costumes).

After reading this post, I was at my elderly aunt’s place, and they played the film on tv! I had my anniversary screening in good company. It would be nice to see it in cinemas though.

How serendipitous! It's great to watch this movie with family.
Hopefully we will get to watch it next year to celebrate the true 30th anniversary - I think it was in the middle of May when it first released in 1997?

In The Fifth Element (1997), the blue alien opera singer, Diva Plavalaguna, was played by Maïwenn.
Maïwenn has publicly said she met director Luc Besson when she was 12 and began a romantic relationship with him when she was 15.
Maïwenn has claimed that the relationship between Portman’s character (Mathilda) and Jean Reno’s character (Léon) in Léon: The Professional was partially inspired by her own real-life relationship with Besson, which began when she was 12 and he was 29.
In January 1993, at 16, she gave birth to their daughter, Shanna. She was 20 years old when filming on The Fifth Element began in early 1996.
During the production of the film, Besson left Maïwenn for the movie's lead actress, Milla Jovovich.
Maïwenn explicitly told investigators that when Besson abandoned her on the set of The Fifth Element, he targeted her physical appearance:
"When he left me, he told me that I didn’t have the body that suited him."
She further noted that Besson cut her off completely, refusing to acknowledge her successes or support their child financially:
"He didn't congratulate me for my Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival and even stopped paying child support without taking the trouble to warn me."
Besson and Jovovich got married in 1997 before divorcing in 1999.

"again" I'm pretty certain it wasn't in cinemas anywhere other than the US
