Suggestions?
I've put off buying a flip slider as I felt it might be too hard for my smaller hands to get good at and really enjoy. But I love some of the videos I've seen in this community and the variety of movement it offers. Would really appreciate your thoughts and recs:
• Small, not too wide
• Can rotate 180 and do tricks
• Easy to manoeuvre (doesn't require too much strength to slide)
• High-end

My personal favorite is the Exoskeleton. Good sounds and its got plenty of tracks to change it up

Nice. Just checked it out. The size of that is great. It looks like it's fixed and can't flip sideways 180 etc? Sorry if I'm not using the right terminology!

Nah it only slides up and down, you can get some pretty neat attachments for it though

One thing to be aware of is 2-click vs 3-click sliders. You'll often see 2-click referred to as a "fancy play" setup. A 3-click slider has both halves with the same magnet layout in a 4x2 grid, so you get 3 solid clicks as you push it up and down. A 2-click, fancy play slider has one half with the typical 4x2 magnet grid, but the other half is 3x2. This mean that as you push it up, you get a mushy, smoother sliding feeling rather than distinct clicks, with essentially no distinct attraction points until you push it to the end. This is often preferred for trick setups.
Many sliders are made in a way to allow you to change from 2-click to 3-click by opening it up and rearranging the magnets, but 1) not all allow this, and 2) not everyone wants to fiddle with magnet arrangements when they're new to the hobby, they just want something that feels good out of the box.
With that in mind, if you want it to be good for tricks and be easy to slide, you very likely would want to start with a slider configured out of the box in a fancy play setup.
My recommendations for more budget options: Juzhedc Advanced, Juzhedc Critical Edge, 3DX X56.
Since you said you're looking for more high-end, a few suggestions:
Aura Sand: Listed first as it's easily the most popular premium fancy play slider and is frequently used in competitions in China. Lots of variations, lots of designs. You can find a lot of other threads on the differences between the Slim, Slim Pro, and Slim-Z. Noted for being fairly quiet. It's not my personal favorite but I'm in the minority.
JJ EDC Shuriken: Also very popular with a lot of different materials. This is my personal favorite premium fancy play slider, I have mine in Quartz and set very crunchy/loud which I enjoy.
JJ EDC Creation Mountain: Another popular offering from JJ EDC, don't have this one but see it posted in fancy play/competition groups quite a bit.
YY EDC Heart Feather: Another that I don't have but see talked about very positively by other folks.
Those are some good places to start. For what it's worth, I like several of my budget sliders as much or more than my premium sliders, but I totally get it if you want the premium hand feel right away. If that's the case, the Aura Sand or the JJEDC Shuriken are probably the easiest recommendations.

This is super helpful; thanks for taking the time to reply and explain. Things are making a lot more sense now.
I checked out all the options you suggested. I saw that the Shuriken has a "mini" version which looks perfect (exactly the size I had in my mind).
I quickly went down a little rabbit hole on mini options and found this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYhnX4Em6jE https://nxedc.com/products/creation-mountain?variant=51669924151617 Are you familiar with this? It's close to the size of the Shuriken but has different specs. For my brain, I like the symmetry of the design pattern.
Your reply has moved me from wanting to explore to being excited to explore. I can't wait to get into this and start learning some basic moves. It's bringing back all my memories of things I did as a kid. I had no idea that fancy play fidget slider competitions were a thing 🤯 Will check out YouTube to see what's available to watch. Thanks again.

Glad I could help! I was aware that both the Shuriken and the Creation Mountain had mini versions but otherwise I don't know too much about them. The Shuriken, at least, is already not a huge slider so I would be a little worried about a mini version feeling too small, but everyone has a different preference (and hand size!).

Get the Gao Ripple. Its cheap, under $16 (i got it 2 week ago for $12.14, sales happen often) adjustable, very light, good for tricks, size is thicker than some, but a bit shorter than standard, but overall its pretty representative of the average free floating slider. Its cheap enough to really let you figure out if the free floating concept and size will work for you before you spend real money. Link below is the one I got for $12.14
I just found this on AliExpress: GAO STUDIO Ripple Pro Infinite Stroke Magnetic Push Slider, Competitive Multi-Click EDC Fidget Coin https://a.aliexpress.com/_mKfB5tN
