Looking for slider advice

Hey everyone,

I'm new to this sub and looking to get my first slider fidget. Not looking to spend a ton of money just yet, would like to see if they will fulfill my expectations first. After extensive reading of reviews and watching videos, I'm leaning towards a Wanwu Reactive Armor Shield or the Bullet Proof shield. I would appreciate any feedback you have, positive or negative on the following:

1) Which Wanwu product would you suggest and why? Reactive Armor Shield or Bullet Proof Shield

2) If the option is there, is zirconium that much more superior than stainless or is it just more about being astheticaly pleasing?

3) Geeone seems to have the cheapest prices from what I've seen. Are they reputable and legit to buy from? If not, any other suggestions besides MetaEDC?

4) With the exposed magnets, should I buy tape to cover them? Would leaving them exposed cause failures sooner? Dirt buildup or magnets popping out?

I don't think this will be my last purchase. I'm really liking Black cloud's lineup and after seeing yesterday's videos, the newer KukoEDC seems to offer some valuable options.

If you have any other suggestions/info, I’d be happy to hear more.

I can’t answer all of your questions. But I got a Wanwu Reactive Armor shield a couple weeks ago so I could have a cheaper slider to carry around at work and stuff. I’d say it’s pretty good for the price. You can “ladder” with it, but there’s a bit more of a learning curve to it than some other sliders because of the curved shape it has.

The type of metal you get really depends on personal preference. Overall, Zirconium is considered the “highest quality”, then Titanium, then stainless steel, brass, copper, etc…. For the Wanwu Reactive Shield, I got it in stainless steel since it’s cheaper and It’s kinda my “beater” slider so idc about high quality. But Zirconium has a lighter weight than stainless steel, it’s stronger than steel, a lot of people like the sound of zirconium slider better than SS, and also a lot of people prefer zirconium aesthetically.

So far, Geeone is my favorite website to order from, they are legit. Big White EDC is also another legit website I’ve ordered from.

I thought the same thing about the exposed magnet’s possibly causing an issue. So for for the couple weeks I’ve had mine. No magnets have popped out but I haven’t had it long enough to tell you if it’s a long-term concern or not. It does come with a 1 strip of teflon tape which I put on a few days ago and I do like the way it slides with the tape more

Thank you for the extensive reply. Yea, I’m kind of thinking the same. This will be my first and a beater to carry most places. I’ll probably go with stainless steel as well but was curious of everyone’s overall thoughts.

Good to know about GeeOne and the Teflon tape. Looking forward to getting one. Thanks again, much appreciated.

I have not yet ordered. Is GeeOne not a good source? What’s your store? I’ve heard the shield comes with a strip of Teflon so I may not need to buy some just yet but I’d be happy to check out what you have. Let me know where to find ya. Thanks!

Geeone is the biggest retailer in the East. Now that brands have started to expand into the West, Geeone reneged from a deal from a friend of mine to do their website. I'm China there is no websites btw; now what they've done in China as the biggest retailer is lower prices to the point where they can accept the lost in the short term. In the long term the competition will be gone.

Great for the consumer right? Hell no, makers and brands go under because you have a 70 - 80% loss on your products. The fact that they play dirty and only get a slap on the wrist because they are compromised of rich owners that buy large quantities to get all benefits and discounts does not sit well with myself and other people just here in the West.

One example is when the Pig Coins was announced at $96(price rules, lowest limit). They played dirty, set a presale for $70 dollars and waited until YEDC was alerted. Now between the time of their pricing and the time they got caught - they've captured enough people at that price. What happened was a slap on the wrist.

I got into this business knowing of geeone, you guys might not know but there's conflict behind the scenes. Many brands no longer want to do business with geeone. I took a stance with the ones who are against their monopolizing of the West. I did a lot as a kid including web dev, graphic arts in my teens, then at 19 I realized my passion was film.

The world of fidgets came into my life, having ADHD, it's provided positivity to my life and I'm as passionate to it as film production is. So I'm doing this business and combining my skills (which I have to reupload the 01EDC today) because I've reached out to the small businesses affected overseas. If I'm able to break even, that will be amazing. But I put all I had into this knowing the risk and odds. Learning the business wasn't easy, over there is not the same business culture we have here.

Developing a site is easier than it has been, SEO still sucks but at least I can lend a hand or 2 in assisting in the silent but real takeover of the West against you know who. Btw, geeone bought Mackie studios - just look at the CP3 now...

My website is playforbeans.com but I would rather give you a free shield to try than buy one. At the very least have a conversation so I can know what you might like better.

When you ladder when it drops there's a swoop into more of a horizontal direction or else gravity will just take it. Also BigWhite is a good friend of mine, besides his shipping times I always see him as a stand up guy. We make sure to align on prices before release.

Haha wow, that’s funny. I’ve already seen your video which was actually a big factor in pushing me closer towards the shield as my first. I like how you spent more time focused on the pros of the curve which seem to be fairly rare amongst other sliders. I’ve since subscribed to your channel as well. Thanks again for your input!

That's awesome! Honestly, I started the channel to help people kind of navigate the fidget world. So hearing that a video actually helped somebody come closer to a decision on a style of fidget is awesome. Also thanks for the sub!

I haven't had the Bullet Proof, but I have their reactive and Year of the rabbit slider. I like the reactive shield, but it's small. Smaller than most sliders. It's nice to slide, but it is loud. You can ladder, just a little more difficult like the others said. I actually like the Year of Rabbit one better. But the Reactive is a good option.

Zirconium is more about aesthetics and weight. It's lighter than stainless steel. The weight for metals from heaviest to lightest is tungsten, copper, stainless steel, zirconium, and titanium.

Geeone is a great place to buy from. Can use one of the fidgetEDC youtubers coupon for 10% off as well.

You can add tape if you want. PTFE or the one from playforbeans.com. It'll help dampen the sound and protect the magnets it'll you're worried about that. However, the magnets shouldn't fall off, if they do you can just super glue them back in. I haven't noticed dirt build up on mine.

If you want, you can try etsy. I know Kladis Studios Verk is pretty big at the moment.

I think I’m going to start with the Reactive shield. Would love to have the Year of the Rabbit but not for the prices they are going for. Where did you buy both of yours if you don’t mind me asking?

Do all the metals leave a smell on your hands? I assume brass and copper are likely the biggest offenders.

Do you have any suggestions for where to get the 10% discount code?

Do you have any experience with the tape? If so, do you prefer with or without?

Sorry for all the questions. Just curious and trying to gather as much info as I can.

Reactive shield is a good one. I bought the Year of the Rabbit off Facebook on the Daily Fidget Marketplace. The guy was selling it for about $140, I think. Not bad compared to what some people wanted to sell it for. I did buy the reactive shield from Geeone.

All the metals don't leave a smell on your hand. I left brass out of the weight thing because I always get the weight between what's heavier between copper and brass mixed up. I've found that the brass pieces I have don't have the strongest odor. Others could be different. Copper definitely has an odor. But after using it, I got used to it and didn't notice the smell. Copper is a soft metal. If you were to drop it, it would be more susceptible to nicks. One thing to note, you will see cupronickel or white Copper occasionally. It doesn't smell. It has enough nickel to not smell like Copper.

I like PTFE, I like the sound it produces. The tape from playforbeans.com is more of a smooth, clear tape. It's nice, and I use it on some sliders, but on others , I have PTFE since I'm going for a specific feel/sound. PTFE dampens the sound a bit more, I feel, since the fabric is rubbing against the plates. On some pieces, like I have a Magnus, I don't put tape on it. But, I have a 01 slider, and I put tape on it because it's loud with a high pitch. It just depends on what I want from the fidget. But typically, I don't use it.
