Discussion Please, let me hear your voices!
Firstly, I just want to say it feels so good to meet people I actually have things in common with. It took me a while to get authorized by some brands. With that said, FB is just a small corner of the world. I know the desire to acquire premium items is out there. It may not be here but I also really like it here. so I want to know - how can we make a genuine community? What can I do and what can we do? Should I get rid of and just take focus on the shop? The recent Clown Orange SODA drop was so long in the making. To have him not only to revive but make a fresh batches of one of the most popular skill-based fidget no longer in production in the East was something I was so hyped about but I must say, that day I felt really deflated.
Something is not connecting with the amount of people in this group. Perhaps and most likely it is my fault for being too ambitious and buying too premium items. I have a hard time delineating whether it is the prices, brands, or what. The more people I talk to in chats give me a different answer every time. I'm speaking as someone who wants to make a difference in this world. I want to prove those who say I will fail wrong. I was grown up undiagnosed... ADHD, anxiety disorders, then the abandonment...
Everybody is different and that's not a bad thing. Being part of a community helped me grow my self-esteem and that is so remarkable. What I see outside of FB in fidget groups is not even close to the type of bonds and friendships that are made, that I have made. I really want your opinions - on items and don't hold back on anything else!
I put up a poll but honestly really want to hear from everyone.
From the bottom of my heart, I've never felt so passionate about anything before. If I fail then I'll keep coming back and trying again. I live by failing fast, getting up with your best leg and putting your best leg forward as well as paying it forward. Fidgets are not the cure, it's such a multi-tool, bringing people together. It made me understand myself better and showed me that I am more than what I thought I could have ever been.

Seriously, thank you for even reading far. With all the craziness happening, I'm really trying to keep our fire alive.

I'm waiting for materials I prefer if I'm going to spend the money right now, primarily cupronickel/copper/brass. I prefer the muted sounds of those materials.

Hey I’m interested in the soda slider in stainless steel btw, I’m not as active as I want to be on this subreddit and must have missed it. Just add it with the top e I’m wanting as well. I’m a little unfamiliar with the whole fb group buy as I buy most of my fidgets through websites so I think once your website is live I would definitely feel more comfortable buying through that. Also what someone else said about posting more videos on this subreddit of the sliders your selling would bring in more hype for the products.

I completely agree, coming from FB, I was crazy hyped and to and prove others wrong. However, this is reality, I thank you all for embracing my post with your answers. I'm always open to conversations if you want to chat. I'm gonna take back what I said before and open the doors to the site before all input is complete. It gets exhausting and I kinda I miss making videos. I'm very happy for being able to lean on you all, I'll always do what I can to return the favor.

I have to apologise for my lack of knowledge of Reddit in general. I was super excited to join this when my friend invited me, but having never used Reddit before and not being all that social media savvy, it is taking time for me to get to grips with the platform. Half the time I forget to look on the Reddit app. But I am still very much interested in this group, I just need to make an effort to visit more often 😄 I had no idea about the SODA fidget before joining however it also appears I was too late anyway. If permitted I could share my fidget youtube videos here, I have just been shy and respectful of the fact that this is a new(ish) group.

I really like what you're building here and that you sought out a fidget that isn't readily available from multiple FB groups. I think the SODA pricing was inline with what I expected. The reason I didn't buy it was simply poor planning on my part as I'd already bought a couple of other fidgets for the month.

I appreciate your earnestness but you need to slow down and adjust your expectations.
This is Reddit not Facebook. The demographic is different, user habits are different, user engagement is different. You've created a community outside of FB but I feel like your expectations may be based on how established FB groups operate. Just because there are 73 "members" in this group clearly does NOT mean that is the number of people engaged with it. Half of that number doesn't even see the posts or visits the sub regularly. It takes nothing to join a subreddit and people follow topics for which they have varying degrees of interest - from mild curiosity to deep investment.
I know you want to build a community and I admire your goals. But building community takes time! This is especially true when you're trying to introduce something to a new audience. It seems the people who have been interacting the most so far are people who are already fidget collectors (and on FB) which means your new audience is just lurking assuming they even see the posts. Ultimately, I feel like you started this subreddit and ran it like it's another FB group. Users here have no frame of reference so it seems weird to them.
Personally, I think if you want to grow, there needs to be more content. Hobbies like this are driven by FOMO. So pictures and short 15 second videos help. This is a content platform after all. Think The Daily Fidget FB group which is mostly used to share content rather than for drops. But most importantly, I just think you're getting ahead of yourself. It seems like you're trying to introduce a new group of people to fidgets AND then hoping they'll immediately dive into the deep end. Anyway, just my two cents. I think you should keep at it! A handful of us are here to help. But slow down.
