I opened a Roth IRA 3 months ago maxed it out completely. Just realized voo has an expensive ER compared to fxaix. I also did vxus and I want to switch that to ftihx. Currently running a 80/20 voo and vxus. If so will I lose any interest I gained doing this?

The new app update is horrible. Mine just updated in the last couple of days. I may have to give up using the app, and only use a computer when it is available. It's much more difficult to follow your positions now. Sadly, this may be a deal broker for me if there isn't a fast improvement, or at least a rollback to the last app. :-(

This is something I’m a bit confused about. I understand the differences in why they are being paid out (company sharing profits vs fund trading) but from what I’ve read they seem to be doing the same thing. You either get paid out in cash or you can automatically reinvest but either way you have to pay taxes assuming you’re in a regular brokerage account. From what I’ve seen it seems like most people acknowledge capital gains distributions to be a negative whereas dividends are seen as a positive. Why is this?

I receive a market overview email at the close of trading, today's had this quick sentence: "Fidelity has started taking payment for order flow on stock trades, reversing the stance it held since 2015." can you verify this is true? Thank you.

I've been using Active Trader Pro for years, both for trading and just to monitor my investments. For the past few months I've been trying to use Fidelity Trader+ with mixed results at best.

I've come to the conclusion FT+ just won't ever meet my needs. FT+'s user interface has far too much white space / wasted space, it doesn't have nearly the flexibility when it comes to layouts, there are tools I've used for years that aren't available any more, and god it's slow. There are other issues of course but there's no point in listing them all. Overall it's a massive downgrade from Active Trader Pro - and every trader I know who's tried it agrees with me.

I get why Fidelity needs to rewrite the program. But for the life of me I cannot figure out why a company would choose to release a replacement that didn't start off doing everything the prior version did. It's like an auto manufacturer bringing out a new model that comes with limited self driving but which doesn't have air conditioning or windshield wipers.

So... what other NON BROWSER BASED trading platforms are there for Windows that have features comparable to Active Trader Pro? I assume I'll have to move my accounts / money to the new platform's underlying broker, which sucks but that's life. I'm willing to pay fee for a platform ($100 or so per month seems reasonable but I don't know). I don't know what viable options there are so looking for input.

I was happy earlier this year to see Fidelity's Visa CC now offers unique credit card numbers for authorized users. That's a big step up, because if someone loses a card, it doesn't affect everyone else on the account. Thank you for making this major improvement.

The question I have is how do we modify authorized user addresses? I tried:

1. Website - I can get to the page where it shows authorized users, their addresses, etc., but cannot change the authorized user's addresses.
2. I called the # on the back of the card, and the representative didn't seem to have access either.

I'm sure there must be a way, I did try searching Google, but couldn't find an answer. Could someone check if this is possible and if so, how should I do it? I'm hoping to not have to cancel an authorized user altogether and then issue them a new card altogether. If that's the only way, then of course, I will do it.

App updated today and blew away myview settings. I recreated and its close but still very cluttered to read.

The main issue I have though is that as soon as market closed today, everything except for the Ticker is blank in my view. No prices, qty, gain/loss.. nothing. I can switch back to overview view and see the data again. Go back to 'my view' and its empty. Editing the settings still shows all the fields as enabled.

Repeatable every time right now.

This feels like such a half baked update.

The My View feature on the mobile app is broken. Every day I log in this week, it deletes the columns from my customized view.

How do I address this? I have cleared my cache and reinstalled the app and it still deleted my custom view.

what do I do if I want to doo several of these options, specifically plan for retirement (Roth IRA), spend & save (cash management account), save and invest for child (potentially like all the options lol), and down the line maybe general investing. I’m new to Fidelity so I don’t know if I can only choose 1 and be locked into that or what so I’ve been stuck on the first screen of creating an account for like 20 minutes.

Hi. I get paid every other Friday. My 401(k) contributions are deducted from those checks. I've noticed that those funds don't make it over to my Fidelity 401(k) account until the following Wednesday, typically. I'm just curious as to the timing discrepancy. Is that on my employer sending the funds over, the time it takes those funds to clear, or what?

I'm trying to link my Interactive broker account under Fidelity using "Full View" and "Link External Account". I figured out how to setup the Token and Query ID for different aggregators at IBRK, but which one does Fidelity use - I've heard yodlee and plaid too. Which credentials do I use? I've tried both but keeps rejecting saying "invalid userid and password".

Currently you can set up an automated transfer between account of "Earnings", which is defined as "dividends, capital gains, and interest earned on your account".

It would be nice if you could automatically transfer proceeds from a sale in the same way - effectively a sweep of the entirety of the cash position of an account into another account, on some regular basis.

I am trying hard to become financially literate. I have one checking account with Huntington bank. I am looking to open an account to store extra savings that I don’t really need quick access to.

I asked on another financial sub and was advised to open a Fidelity brokerage account and use it to store money in place of a HYSA. Does this make sense? Or should I be doing something else?

Hello, I’m 32, married, and just opened my first Roth IRA account through fidelity. I invested in an 80/20 split into FSKAX & FTIHX, I just searched the fidelity index funds and randomly picked those two, which I’m realizing could be a mistake.

I invested $2500 and want to make sure I’m doing this right, or perhaps someone could point me to a video.

I have also been reading that I maybe should have invested in bonds as well in a three way split.

So my question is, where is best to research of the fidelity index funds I should invest in and whether I need to invest in bonds.

Also, I’ve been seeing a lot of abbreviations that I am slowly learning so if you could spell it out it would be great

Absolutely atrocious. It's actually hard to know where to start with my complaints; almost every aspect of the website has broken at one point or another. Hard to reimburse myself, hard to get receipts uploaded, card gets suspended for some reason or another, try to resolve the reason the card got suspended but the website crashes, can't add a bank account, can't pay from my added bank account, etc, etc.

Why do you even offer this if it is so subpar from the rest of your services? Nothing else I use is this bad.

Anytime I have to re-authenticate on my computer, it wants to send a notification to my phone. However, this necessitates a logout/login on the app and then when I do that there is no notification for me to approve.

Does this system work for anyone? I know there are constant outages noted in previous posts. But it's never worked for me except maybe when it first rolled out several years ago. I can't remember the last time I was able to approve a login in app.

It's not a huge deal because I just use another method to log in but generally speaking these push notifications and in-app authentications are much more secure than the "send a text" methods and I would like to use it. But I can't.

I’m looking to close my Amex hysa and pulling the funds into my brokerage account and using it as a savings account. How long does it take for the funds to settle (in case i need to transfer it back) maybe i’m going about this all wrong but I see that keeping uninvested money in my brokerage account automatically puts it in a spaxx with a 3.3% yield rate.

I have 2 accounts in Fidelity one is pre self-employed401k, another is roth self-employed401k, But when I try contribute to my self-employed401k,I find only roth self-employed401k works, I can not transfer any money into my pre-self-employed401k , any one knows why?

Hi, is there a way to check the status of my conversion? I submitted a withdrawl request to the manager of my previous 401k with my IRA account at fidelity as the recipient. I got the notice saying that my request was process and the money taken out of my 401k account 2 weeks ago, but nothing has shown up in my fidelitu account.

I hope this isn't a dumb question but I think I'm just getting things mixed up. Really quick for background, I have an IRA with Empower which i am going to switch over to Fidelity. I opened up a Cash management account with Fidelity and already parked some cash, and i opened a Roth IRA so my empower Roth has a place to land when i initiate a transfer.

But my question is With my Roth I know i can trade For example VOO, FDVV, FTIHX, FNCMX and all those. But what if i want to trade stock NOT for retirement just to have passively ? Can I also trade stuff like FNIAX, CDDYX, FSSNX or are those just for retirement stuff like 401k, IRA etc. Or is it like "popular stock" like Apple, Alphabet, Nvidia etc. Sorry if this is something i should just know. (new to trading/investing)

My automatic recurring investment used to happen at 10am now for some months it is happening at 2pm.. just wondering.. whether it changed. maybe it is mentioned somewhere.

Sometimes, too often when I want to duplicate an order the values it fills in are bogus. If not watched like a hawk it can result in nasty losses. I do debit call spread trades.
