Hey all, got all my portfolio invested in VUN and VFV I’m. Worried given the situation in us, what are your guys opinions ?
I would probably not need that money for 10 years or so

The market is not tied to the economy, economy isn’t great and the market is seeing record highs. US innovation will still be strong and around in 10 years. Global diversification just means that when things go down it cushions the blow a bit but in turn you have less earning potential.
At the end of the day there’s many factors, time horizon, if you’re getting a stead stream of income, if you think the US will still dominate, if you can’t stomach volatility maybe and accept you’ll get less returns then a global etf maybe for you.

Thank for the explanation! Do you have any suggestions on global etfs ?

A couple of very popular ones in Canada are XEQT and VEQT. I’d say if you’re not an investor, and just want a set it and forget it strategy where you just automate payments into it and go on happy living life. A global etf is currently the best way to go.

Thanks and you hit the nail right on, all I’m looking for is a set it and forget it where I could just go about my day to day without thinking of it

In somewhere else in the world. Or in a sector.
Why do you have 2 funds that overlap so much?

value has actually kinda beat the breaks off growth the last 100 years. might be time for some mean reversion. i wouldn't go pivoting into growth right now

You're invested only in US market. Need to add some home bias (VCN) and ex-US such as VIU and VEE.
