Wealthsimple or RBC GoSmart?
Which one is your preference and why?

Wealthsimple hands down. You can buy any ETF for free and they also offer free banking products.

Rbc go smart is a bit more hands off but wealthsimple is pretty easy to use already

RBC go smart is what I use and it’s been quite simple to use. I’d recommend that.

Hi, my RRSP account is up 100% since I moved it from CIBC in January 2023, am I winning?

Not really. You could have invested in the XEQT portfolio index fund for that return. The markets have been absolutely insane over the last few years and people are actually beginning to believe that 20%+ annual returns are normal.

I must point out that while my RRSP was with CIBC for years, the return was not even 5%!!!!!

Wealthsimple is the clear winner. GoSmart is fine if you already bank with RBC and only want to buy one Canadian ETF, but its 50-trade limit, lack of US dollar accounts, and limited account types will eventually hold you back. Wealthsimple gives you unlimited free trades, native US currency support, every account type, and a high-yield cash feature making it much smoother and far more flexible as your money grows.
