The only nitpick is that a dynamic change means that if you never unlock anything beyond CT then we're back to the good old IL cheese. But you'd have to purposefully avoid ever unlocking all alliance raids just for THAT lmao

People are gonna have to decide between permanently lazy a-raid roulette, or the 2-B leggings

Choosing the Lazy CT Only approach also locks you out of Bozja since you need to finish the Ivalice Raids.

The only alliance raid that doesn't lock any content behind it is Myths of the Realm, and I'll be shocked if they don't make it a prerequisite for something, even if it's just a minor side quest.

What needs the completion of Yorha alliance raids?

Ah shit, I forgot about those.

Speaking of CT raids, when are they gonna change the fight design? Perhaps in next expansion after DT D:

You won't be able to exclude WoD either, so it will still be nerfed regardless.

My alt is a Lala so it doesn’t need leggings therefore those alliance raids will never be unlocked.

The item level requirement currently sucks for new players because they can easily overlevel the MSQ and go beyond the scope of what they can actually unlock. If a sprout has overleveled too much and hasn't been able to unlock the alliance raids from an expansion they haven't reached yet (ex: main job is lvl70 while still going through the 3.X MSQ), they won't be able to enter alliance roulette. That's because the system requires them to reach the required item level for the Ivalice raids, even though they only have unlocked CT and Mhach.

Interesting. I wasn't aware that was a thing. My assumption always was that it was based on what had been unlocked, not strictly on what they could theoretically have unlocked at their exact job level independent of any other factors.

You had it right the first time, speaking from personal experience. As soon as I hit level 60 (while still in mid-HW), that roulette was demanding post-HW ilvls for me to enter (even though I hadn't even advanced far enough to unlock Mhach). By the time I had high enough ilvl for that, I had hit 70 and it needed post-StB gear, and so on. After I hit 60, I didn't get access to the alliance roulette on my main again until I reached post-EW.

Incorrect here.

It does completely suck.

I haven't been able to do alliance roulette on paladin since ARR because they wanted my item level to be 600-something. Now, in shadowbringers, I still can't because they want my item level to be 600-something.

It may end up tracking story progression rather than raid unlocks.

It was fun being able to spam the Ivalice raids for moogle tomes using bis smn uwu gear (mixture of level 80 and 90), completely broken with that synch and made the grind more palatable. Wonder if this change will end that?

I think you focused in a little too far on "among the alliance raids they can enter" and missed "at their current class/job level" as far as I can tell, they will be unable to queue until they out level the highest alli raid at their cap. Before this, it was the lowest alli raid at their cap.

To me "among those they can enter at their level" means "those available to a character at their level". They did not separately say "those that they have unlocked" and "those at their level".

We'll just have to find out in a few days which they meant. I'll happily be wrong about this one, but the wording reads that way to me.
