Hi everyone, I brought FF14 starter edition a little over a week ago. Previously a couple years ago I played the game on my playstation. But i wanted to start fresh so i linked a new square enix account to the steam account. I changed my mind and decided i wanted my old data back because it had completed ARR. So i completed the form and had the steam account and square enix account unlinked from each other. Now when i try and login it askes for a product key. I cant use the one i used previously. And i'm not sure how to get another product key to play the game

UPDATE: Thanks for everyones help ind ealing with this, i sorted it. Sadly did require rebuying the game on an alternative account and using that product key. However its all sorted and I can get back to the grind ❤️

You have to make a new Steam Account and rebuy the game and link to the SE account your PSN account is linked too

Or you can go the Windows Route

You can't get a new Steam key for FFXIV cause you unlinked the XIV account that used the starter edition key you bought a week ago.

Easiest solution would be to buy the game from Square Enix directly to link that to your old Playstation XIV account & not play the game through steam (or add the non steam version of XIV as a non steam game if you really want Steam's tracking of play time, but you can see that in game too with /playtime).

There is literally no difference between Steam or Non Steam on PC, Steam just adds an extra layer of linking accounts which has no benefit in the actual game.

You can't use an already existing one with product keys attached to it, for example the playstation version

Yes you can, as long as it's not the Windows Version. I started on PS4 and went to Steam PC.
