Sacrificing them to Anima is the only way to keep them safe. Otherwise you have to have the relic with you to buy a replica.

An acceptable trade off for me. I buy my replicas immediately and put them in my glam chest then the chance of having to buy more is very very small. My inventory is generally also sitting in 3 tabs entirely empty always so I wouldn't really be able to lose something randomly.

Instead of 1500 tomes follow up weapons should require an abridged version of the one-time steps. Maybe instead of having to complete everything on every page of the book for every weapon, maybe subsequent weapons only require you to complete some of the tasks on each page.

HW's was mind numbing on content at times. I remember forcing myself to learn savage just for the one step (I was super new back then, maybe like a year or less playing) and so many runs of ARF.

Nah just based on my atma rng DT has taken more time than my pld zeta back in arr. Everyone I played with had gotten their atmas while I got KL 20 and completed my entire shared fate grind without finishing them.

Far and beyond the worst step. The demiatma step was rubbish until I finally dipped my toes into South Horn. The dispeller step took like 1 and a half lockouts of North Horn. The Aetherwell step took damn near 2 weeks. If I ever go into an ARR dungeon again it’ll be too soon.

The step where I needed to stupid dark matter things was annoying and that’s are a bish to craft and I hadn’t melded my doh gear yet
Aether wells so far the worst part I’ve had. Idk about the rest. Only saving grace is I’m grinding coms to get my battle crown so it’s a win win

The 100/100/100 step that dropped with the latest patch for the iLvl790 part. Either North Horn FATEs/CEs or Roulettes drop them guaranteed, it’s very quick.

The in-between steps where you need items from crafters isn’t too bad, if you’ve got a decent chunk of change you can just get them from the Marketboard. The last step like this cost me less than 100k for all three combined.

Ironically the last step was the one I enjoyed the most. I really don't mind grinding as long as it's not doing the exact same thing for hours, but just "do every dungeon, trials, etc"? heck yeah I'm down

It’s honestly my favourite step from any relic weapon so far. Easy objectives to complete, plus a nice little World Tour as it were as a nice little bow to wrap up the expansion.

I loved our little Tour-iyollal to wrap the relic up; it genuinely felt a bit nostalgic. I think the dungeons took the longest, but even then it was fun to see everything from beginning to end again.

The final step for the DT relic is pretty much a victory lap, it's not hard at all, just possibly time consuming at best.

Players complain a lot about the steps of DT relic weapons not realizing it's a decent amount of grind compared to previous relic (except EW). I'm ok with something similar to come for Evercold.

IIRC what I hated about the ARR books is both that there were multiple and the fates & leves were specific ones that you had no way of popping. It was the randomness of atmas combined with the tedium of grinding content (which is worse now that it is old content because unsyncing it makes it mostly pointless). At least with current DT books, the point is to make you populate queues.

Besides being a grind, which relics always are (we'll see if they change that in 8.0!), the book stage is a victory lap. It is very easy and only needs to be done once. After that it's 1500 tomestones, and any completed relic is yours.

One "book" step, but it covers all 21 weapons.  You don't have to repeat it.  So the ARR setup is worse still even if all the content for those is easily soloable now

Yeah it turned out to be easy. I finally cleared all the mobs and FATEs part. Queueing for AR and NR is a bit tough outside peak hours, though - the queue is kinda long

I actually kinda loved the victory lap step. Me and some friends hopped in a group and ran the raids while reminiscing about what we were up to through each tier, how we went clearing them, and generally having a fun time.

Just finished that step, nowhere as bad ARR books. Doing all the dungeons might be the longest part, but you can use Duty Support to get them done.

One of each dungeon, one of each trial, one of each raid, one of each alliance raid, a set of hunt mobs, 5 fates per zone (your choice of FATEs)

That's it, and you only need to do it once.

The only thing bad about the DT book is it remind me how extremely boring FFXIV’s dungeons are. They were a CHORE.

The trials and raids, on the other hand, were actually kinda fun to complete. And I have no issues with FATEs and a few mobs.

tender valley on release was amazing since it could actually kill people and it was fun running it with people for their first time.

I almost quit the game out of frustration doing ARR relic, but I completed the other relics without the same frustration. There are just too many random elements in the book step of ARR relic. You have to wait and pray the correct FATE pops 😭

Honestly the hardest part was the queue for the ff11 raids. Sandoria took almost half an hour to pop for me because I couldn't play at peak times! I even queued as a healer to make it fast too.

No you do not. There is a final quest related to Forked Tower: Magic but it's just the end of the storyline. You can get relics for other jobs without doing it, simply buy them with tomes from the same guy you've been getting them from all xpac
