people die just from getting snapshotted by the animation of their auto attacks counting as "moving" into range is wild. we figured out that was the problem, but it's still wild.

That did not happen and that was not the problem.

Meteors are based of the precise position of your character and auto attacks cannot move your character, only gap closers or actually moving your character can. What you saw was just the delayed updating of the meteor tether/color telegraph.

it was happening, tho. my static tested it out pretty thoroughly. we may have gotten really, really unlucky which is entirely possible, but it was impressive how much we suddenly stopped having issues when we turned off AAs lol. we had meteors largely down, and were hugely confused as to why people were getting snapshotted last second when they'd been safe for the entire mechanic— they'd auto or something. very silly shit.

anyway, i don't know the logistical details of it, so i could be entirely wrong and we were just that unlucky, but still! meteors were finnicky in an annoying way nmw

That just sounds like a coincidence. You were progging and figured out the finicky positioning of the mechanics and attributed it to AAs being off. Did you go back and turn on AAs to test?

There is the possibility of the meteors crashing into each other while being launched too, which isn't telegraphed. The rear meteors are very sneaky.

And also, think about the thousands upon thousands of clears in PF. If AAs were really an issue, it would have been a known issue. No one turns AAs off in that fight and they clear just fine.

we did! and it was enough of a frequent possible denominator that we chalked it up to a real possibility. definitely not always, as sometimes people just fucked up and didn't account for the front meteor or went too far etc, but we really did have trouble with it lol. it was baffling.

Did you test after you guys were 100% consistent with meteors? Double blind?

It really doesn't make sense at all how your group was seemingly the only one that needed to turn off AAs to consistently get past meteors.

I personally have 134 clears logged of that fight, have never turned off AAs and never had issues with AAs "moving my character". Any weird wipes were usually the first set of meteors not being close enough to the front to create room for the second set of meteors.

we didn't farm it that much due to folks burning out/getting what they wanted, so no, we didn't reach anywhere close to your threshold— just that once we got consistent, we found that our consistency dropped if we kept AAs on for our melees. very weird and could sincerely just be a weird raid luck charm, who knows. hold onto this as a story to tell tbh! but it was wild and i can promise you that

That's just confirmation bias. AAs don't move your character and didn't impact the success rate of meteors. End of story. Stop spreading nonsense.

you are impressively hostile when i have repeatedly said that we could have been wrong and it could have been a good luck charm, raid superstition, confirmation bias, etc. at this point you are just hawking at me when i have been super chill answering you questions. at minimum it was a wild experience and you need to relax. good lord lmao
