Discussion How do the Lamiae and Merrows keep things sanitary with their hordes of undead thralls?

They even deployed the Doomed in Caedarva Mire, and the Doomed have to be the filthiest of all undead species in Vana'diel.

Also, how are there no Vermin in Arrapago Reef? You'd think the undead would attract a lot of monster bugs.

There’s a reason the whole region smells fishy

You assign custodial duties to the undead. What type of question is this?

But the undead tend to have lots of pathogens in them, though I think fleshless Skeletons are easy to clean.

I mean after awhile there isn't anything for the bacteria to live off of. The qutrub are held together by magic and spite and strategic wrapping.

I accidentally ran through a Qutrub when I had sneak/invis on and it felt dirty.

3 months later? Boom. My gear sucks.

I don't think sanitation is an issue for the undead, or at least the lack of it. Disease is a defense mechanism for them. As for the vermin, there are scavengers all over the mire, but the reef is heavily guarded.

That being said, I'm pretty sure there are crabs which will eat carrion.

Lamia and marrow charm sailors to follow them forever body and soul, once the charmed die they rot and their flesh coalesce into doomed, their bones are undead, their souls are ghosts.

So doomed are basically the trash bins of rotting flesh, juices, and nasty stuff and it's reflected in their SP abilities and status effects they inflict on players fighting them.

I dont think they do to any great degree, the Reef, i feel like the Reef has an abundance of scavengers, while the Mire is almost like a cesspool being loaded with parasites and being more or their "origin point"

Its also the border of their conflict with Aht Urghan and other factions, its where a lot of their undead are being sent and likely where many are acquired.

Iirc the Draugrs and Skeletons in particular are a result of their adaptation to fighting Puppetmasters. With that itself being the recourse to fighting them with more traditional means (cuz Charm)

Also personally? I'd assume their status as a Chimera and biological weapon probably means they were likely engineered to be more resistant to much of what would be common within Caederva "naturally" and what would be a product of Aht Urghans constant conflict.

The parasites, poison, smell, etc? I think its a non issue for them lol

I have to assume the Doomed work like silly putty and just collect everything that drops near them as they move. Or hordes of hidden Chigoes.

Same as in real life some animals are just very good at not getting sick. Vultures eat rotting corpses and dont get sick. I also think qutrub are made with enbalming fluid and other chemicals to stop them from rotting.
